It’s always a sad day when we lose a beloved celebrity.
In recent years, we’ve lost many celebrities who made significant contributions to Hollywood and the world of movie-making, but today’s loss hits exceptionally hard. James Earl Jones has passed away at age 93.
According to Deadline, James Earl Jones passed away this morning at his home in Dutchess County, NY at the age of 93. Jones was best known for his roles in Field of Dreams and voicing Darth Vader in Star Wars, but had many other projects as well.
James Earl Jones was widely regarded as one of Hollywood’s top actors, and was one of the few to have won the EGOT title, which is when someone wins an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony.
In addition to the projects mentioned above, Jones starred in Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb, Conan the Barbarian, Coming to America, The Hunt for Red October, The Sandlot, Patriot Games, and Sneakers. Disney fans will also know him as the voice of Mufasa from The Lion King and its live-action sequel.
