DELAYS Impact Over 200 Flights at Orlando International Airport

Whether you’re experiencing road trip traffic, flight delays, cancelations, or more, starting your trip out with a travel hiccup is never fun.

Where will you fly?

Getting to your destination can often come with a headache, and that’s especially true when you’re traveling to Disney World during the summer. For folks flying in and out of Orlando International Airport (MCO) on July 11th, that’s exactly what happened.

Disney Vacation Planner

According to flight tracking website FlightAware, over 200 flights have been delayed at Orlando International Airport (MCO) by the afternoon of July 11th. Luckily, only seven flights were canceled by that same time.

Southwest Airlines had the most delays with 65, followed by Spirit with 38 and Delta with 18. Several flights flying into MCO were delayed at their destination airports as well.

We see delays at MCO all the time, largely due to weather, but the Orlando Sentinel reports that Orlando ranks as the second-worst airport in America for on-time flights among major airports with about 30% delays overall in 2023. MCO is home to several airlines with less-than-stellar reliability records, too.

Time to book a flight?

Central Florida is currently dealing with thunderstorms and lightning, which can impact flights quite a bit. While no official explanations have been given for these delays, it’s possible that this is a contributing factor to all the delays we’re seeing.

It’s always a good idea to keep an eye on your airline’s app or the departure boards in the airport for the most updated information about your flight!
