If you’ve found yourself questioning reality lately, know you’re not alone.

With so many ways to get transportation around town and while traveling (especially to Disney World), it may feel like you have them all at your disposal. More airlines are adding routes to popular vacation destinations, and we’re even tempted to take speed trains that once weren’t as popular in our areas. However, rising costs for gasoline are starting to pop up nationwide, so if you feel like you’ve been questioning your fill-ups lately at the pump, it’s not all in your head!
We get it — Disney World is expensive enough on its own, and if you’re on a strict budget for getting to and from your vacation, we’ve got some important info for you.

According to CNN, gas prices have been soaring across the nation lately. In their recent article, they even acknowledged that the national average has increased drastically to $3.28 per gallon. That’s 11 cents in one week, according to AAA. This means that if you’ve filled up at the pump over the past few days, you probably just paid the highest price for your gas in almost 3 months.

Of course, not all of this is due to the holiday weekend. Typically, gas prices see an increase as the winter season winds down and the demand to “hit the road” becomes a priority again with warmer weather on the horizon. However, refinery outages also have contributed to limited gas supplies which in turn leads to frustrated travelers.

So what can you do to combat the rising costs? Well, understanding economics will give you a great head start! According to experts who are looking ahead, they’re expecting to see gas prices continue to rise at a gradual pace until we reach the summer months. Analysts are predicting summer gas prices to reach $3.50-$3.75 as a national average during the hotter summer months.

Additionally, monitoring your travels, reducing unnecessary trips, and proactively comparing gas prices in your area (and through the use of apps like GasBuddy that will do it for you) can also help keep your costs down as low as possible.
