We are all craving more details about the expansions Disney has teased.

We know Disney has plans to spend $60 billion on its parks, experiences, and products, but what might that mean specifically? At a recent town hall meeting, we got a sliver of insight.
Josh D’Amaro is Disney’s Chairman of Parks, Experiences, and Products. He is the one in charge of making our childhood dreams come to life in the theme parks. And it seems that he and CEO Bob Iger may have sights set on Disneyland Resort.

On November 28th, Iger and other Disney executives, including Josh D’Amaro, joined the Walt Disney employees to discuss current and future plans within the company. One of those discussion points was the park expansions and more specifically, Disneyland.
“We’ve got so much space to play with. Disneyland, for example, Walt’s original theme park, we still have enough room to build another Disneyland there if we choose to do that,” said D’Amaro according to the Hollywood Reporter via KLTA.
So they’re thinking BIG.

Building another Disneyland (or third theme park) might not be out of the question. The DisneylandForward project that Disney has been working on, looks to change the zoning laws that are currently in place at Disneyland Resort. This project would allow Disney to change and update Disneyland by adding new attractions, shops, and restaurants to their nearly 500-acres.

D’Amaro has previously stated that “Frozen, one of the most successful and popular animated franchises of all time, could have a presence at the Disneyland Resort. Wakanda has yet to be brought to life. The world of Coco is just waiting to be explored. There’s a lot of storytelling opportunity.” And if DisneylandForward is approved, these could become a reality.

At this point, DisneylandForward is still awaiting approval by the city of Anaheim. Disney hopes it will be approved before the end of 2024, at which point work can begin. Disney has not stated how much the project will cost, but with $60 billion set aside for expansions, it is planned to be paid for privately.
We’re looking forward to more magic being brought to Disneyland. But until then, keep following AllEars!
