Disney+ Cancels Two More Shows

Throughout much of 2023, Disney has been talking about cost-cutting.

The company implemented massive budget cuts in some areas and recently increased the price of some Disney+ subscriptions. Now, two more shows have reportedly been canceled on Disney+.

One of these shows is one that never even officially began — the adaptation of The Spiderwick Chronicles. According to Deadline, it’s part of Disney’s “Content Cost-Cutting & Strategy Shift.” The show is now being shopped around at Paramount+, who may choose to produce it instead.

According to Variety, Doogie Kamealoha, M.D. has also been canceled after two seasons. This show was inspired by the 1989-1993 ABC sitcom Doogie Howser, M.D., and followed Lahela “Doogie” Kamealoha as she balanced a budding medical career as a normal 16-year-old girl.

At this time, there is no word on if another studio/production company will purchase the rights and continue the show.
