Things don’t always go to plan in the Disney parks, unfortunately, and today was evidence of that.

Rides can shut down unexpectedly, an entire form of transportation can become unavailable, and technical issues can mess with your plans. But there’s something else that can totally ruin your Disney hopes and dreams…
…weather! Bad weather can (depending on the circumstances) shut down rides in the parks, lead to flooding, and cause entertainment offerings to be totally canceled or delayed.
We experienced some of that firsthand in Disneyland today! The “Magic Happens” parade was set to FINALLY return to Disneyland Park on February 24th, but the California weather was not having it.

Early in the day, we had a feeling that rainy weather could cause some complications, but a Cast Member informed us that the parade wouldn’t officially be canceled until around a half-hour before its scheduled performance.
So we stuck around, crossing our fingers and hoping for the best. But at around 2:37PT we were informed that the parade was officially CANCELED.

Sure enough, when we visited the Disneyland website, it indicated that there were no performances today. It did show times, however, for February 25th — 3:30PM and 6:30PM. So hopefully weather concerns don’t prevent the parade from returning then.

Weather is a very real complication that can impact your Disney plans. In Disney World, we’ve often seen Florida downpours lead to the cancelation of the “typical” parade and the appearance of the rainy day parade instead.

If rain is scheduled to make an appearance during your trip, keep in mind that it might impact what activities you’ll be able to participate in and the entertainment experiences you’ll be able to see. But rain can also lead to some fun and unique experiences (like the rainy day parade), so it’s not all bad necessarily!
