Charging Purchases to Your Hotel Is About to CHANGE in Disneyland

Disneyland is changing!

Disneyland Hotel

There are new restaurants coming to Downtown Disney, a popular ride is set to close for refurbishment soon, and new hotel rooms are coming too. But now we’ve got another important update you need to know about.

In a message sent to travel agents, Disney announced a CHANGE when it comes to charging purchases to your Disneyland hotel room. Starting February 28th, guests staying at Disneyland Resort hotels who want to charge items to their hotel room account (like charge food or merchandise purchases in the parks to their room) will have to use the Disneyland app.

Hotel room keys will no longer be accepted to charge to the room.

So, instead of simply showing your hotel room key and swiping it where needed, you will need to download the Disneyland app and link your hotel reservation to the app. Then you’ll go to the “My Hotel Reservation” screen in the app.

Then, look for the “Charge to Hotel Room” option and a barcode will pop up that can be scanned at participating locations.

It’s interesting to see this change taking place over at Disneyland Resort as the Resort seems to be pushing things further into reliance on phones and digital devices.

We’ll keep an eye out for more updates and let you know what we find.

  1. Why don’t they allow the use of Magic band 2 in Disneyland? It really made the experience easy for us on our trip to DW last Sept

  2. Terrible idea. There are many of us who go to get away from it all; and that includes my phone. I don’t carry my phone in the park intentionally. This makes it harder and harder for me to leave it at home
