NEWS: ‘Daredevil,’ ‘Jessica Jones,’ and MORE Marvel Series Will Leave Netflix Soon

Before Disney+ existed, Netflix was the streaming giant when it came to Marvel series.

Although Marvel is now owned by the Walt Disney Company, Netflix has released six different Marvel series since 2015. But now it looks like Marvel is about to make an exit from Netflix.

Entertainment Weekly has reported that Netflix’s license for the Marvel Defenders series, including shows such as DaredevilJessica JonesIron FistLuke CageThe Punisher, and The Defenders, is ending. EW confirmed that these series will leave Netflix as of midnight on March 1st, 2022.

Marvel and Disney previously had a deal to expand the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the Defenders series, which debuted in 2015 with Daredevil, followed by the other five shows. All six shows were canceled starting in 2018.

Since the cancellations, you might have seen the Daredevil villain Kingpin, played by Vincent D’Onofrio, appear in Hawkeye on Disney+, or Charlie Cox as Daredevil make a cameo appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Entertainment Weekly reported that Daredevil rose to the top 10 of Netflix’s streaming chart after these MCU reveals.

Disney has not yet made any announcements about the future of these shows, so we’ll be watching closely for any updates or announcements.
