Disney Just Teased a REAL Lightsaber (No, Seriously)

As Disneyland Resort prepares to reopen at the end of the month, President of  Disney Parks, Josh D’Amaro shared more information about what the parks will look like today.

And, while it is easy to get caught up in the excitement of finally having an opening date for Avengers Campus in Disney California Adventure, there was another iconic movie featured in the news!

Josh D’Amaro wrapped up his long discussion with President of Marvel, Kevin Feige, and ended with a Disney version of the “mic-drop.” Standing in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, D’Amaro whipped out a lightsaber and said “This is a REAL lightsaber.”  And, his looked a whole lot like the one that was passed down from Anakin Skywalker to Luke and finally to Rey in the movies!

It featured the well known blue blade and silver handle that we’ve come to know and love in the Star Wars movies. The clip was shared at an exclusive event where all attendants were asked not to share pictures, so unfortunately we can’t share screenshots with you just yet. But, rest assured that when Disney does share official images we’ll be sure to update and share!

Imagineer Scott Trowbridge confirmed the real lightsaber, though continued by saying they’re not ready to share a video or photos just yet!

A lot of questions today about whether the lightsaber that Josh D'Amaro revealed today was real or CGI, and, whether I'd share photos or video.

While you can’t get your hands on a real one in the parks just yet, you will be able to get pretty close to it once Disneyland reopens from Savi’s Workshop in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Here, Cast Members guide guests through an interactive experience to create their very own customized lightsaber. Reservations are required for the experience, and they begin booking on April 22nd.

Can we get one of these REAL lightsabers, please? And, could this mean that there are some Star Wars announcements coming soon? Maybe something about the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel?

D’Amaro didn’t give any information away besides that he got his hands on a real lightsaber so we will have to wait and see! We’ll continue to keep you updated with the latest Disney news and updates so stay tuned to AllEars for the latest!
