My favorite holiday time at Walt Disney World is Christmas. But, even I have to admit, Halloween celebrations there are very unique and totally family oriented.

Starting with the resorts where you may find the Cast Members trying to out do each other in a Pumpkin Decorating Contest like the one I found at Disney’s Port Orleans-Riverside Resort back in 2013.

With a big window behind the WALLE pumpkin, I bounced the flash off the ceiling to avoid a flash back.

Keep your eye out for special Meet and Greet opportunities with your family as many of the characters will be dressed up in costume. My daughter, who loves Eeyore, thought his Mummy outfit was, well, fitting for him.

Notice here I used bounce flash again. That kept the light nice and even on both my daughter and Eeyore and avoided redeye.

The center of Walt Disney World’s Halloween celebration is found in the Magic Kingdom. Main Street USA gets all decked out in full Halloween glory.

From August until Halloween Night, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a special ticketed event not to be missed. Kids can Trick-n-Treat at several locations throughout the park, attractions get spooky lighting and sounds effects, Halloween live shows are performed and the Boo-to-You Parade meanders through the park twice for each party.

I first located a lighted area on the parade route (this one was in Frontierland) and used a slow shutter speed for a panning attempt of the Headless Horseman who leads off the parade.
