A new social media post reveals an upcoming reveal date, while recent aerial photos point to ongoing work where a beloved ride once stood. And if you’re huge Universal fans like we are, you might begin to suspect this combination is drawing attention to what could be Universal’s next major attraction project, welcoming us to the “family.”

Universal Orlando recently dropped a short but intriguing teaser on social media that has us buzzing about what might be coming next to Universal Studios Florida. The clip highlights a close-up of a vehicle’s odometer and gauges rolling back to reveal the date “01.20.26”, which was shared with no additional context, sparking speculation about a major announcement to follow on January 20th.

The video itself features the sound of a revving engine and a speedometer graphic, which has led many fans to connect it to a high-speed theme park experience or roller coaster announcement, possibly even tied to Universal’s Fast & Furious franchise, given the automotive theme. While Universal has not confirmed specifics yet, the teaser clearly points to a reveal on that January date.

Adding fuel to the speculation, aerial imagery and construction updates shared by the @bioreconstruct account on X show significant activity on the former site of Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit at Universal Studios Florida. Rip Ride Rockit closed in August 2025 after 16 years of operation, and construction crews have since demolished much of the old coaster infrastructure.

Recent photos show cleared land, construction equipment, and early groundwork (including what appears to be foundational work and footers in place) in the area where Rip Ride Rockit once stood, as well as surrounding backstage zones near the park’s New York area — including what looks to be the framework for a roller coaster’s loading building.

While Universal has not officially announced what will replace the ride, visible preparations like these typically precede the installation of a major new attraction or coaster.

Which leads us to start connecting the dots: the timed January 20th teaser, the automotive motif, and the ongoing construction at the former Rip Ride Rockit footprint could all be pointing toward a new high-thrill roller coaster announcement. A new thrill-ride tied in with the Fast & Furious franchise or follow a similarly fast-paced theme, though while not confirmed at this time, would make MANY Universal fans (including me) super happy at its addition to the park and here’s to holding out hope that the current Fast and the Furious Supercharged attraction may finally be shuddered or permanently repurposed with a more fitting story to follow.

For now, we’re waiting on the edge of our seats in anticipation of what will be shared with this announcement! It’s clear that whatever Universal confirms in the announcement could be one of the most exciting developments at Universal Studios Florida in years.
