If you’re heading to Universal Orlando in 2026, you might need to rearrange some plans!

It’s not uncommon for rides and attractions to close temporarily for maintenance, updates, and general refurbishment. However, in 2026, several popular offerings at Universal Orlando will be closed. Here’s the full list as it currently stands.
Universal Islands of Adventure
The first one on the list is a biggie — one of the most popular rides in the parks! Jurassic Park River Adventure will be closed for most of the YEAR! It closes on January 5th, 2026, and is scheduled to reopen on November 19th, 2026.

The other attraction that will be closed at Islands of Adventure is the Hogwarts Express. Thankfully, this one has a more manageable refurbishment schedule. It’s only set to be closed from February 9th through the 23rd.

Of course, the important thing to note about the Hogwarts Express closure is that since it travels between Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios Florida, it will be closed at BOTH parks during its refurbishment. That means there will be two weeks of no walking through Platform 9 and 3/4.
Universal Studios Florida
Heading next door to Universal Studios Florida, Revenge of the Mummy will be closed for just a few days from January 15th to 21st, 2026. This ride has refurbishments fairly frequently (it’s on the older side), so it’s not a surprise to see it on the schedule. Thankfully, that one will be short!

One closure that’s a bit more random is Finnegan’s Bar & Grill. This restaurant will be closed for construction from January 12th through Winter 2026. That’s quite the refurb! This popular spot is known for its pub-style menu with British fare, and it’s a fan-favorite of many.

Universal hasn’t shared many details about what changes are coming to Finnegan’s, but during its closure, you can dine nearby at Lombard’s Seafood Grille or Louie’s Italian Restaurant.

Universal Volcano Bay
Finally, we’ve got a closure to mention at Volcano Bay. The water park will be closing the Maku Puihi Round Raft Rides for refurbishment from January 5th through February 12th.

This park often closes in the winter months on days that have particularly cold weather, so this ride refurbishment is fairly timed.
Of course, we’ll be visiting Universal Orlando in 2026 to bring you all the news and updates straight from the park about any changes happening. To stay in the loop, make sure you subscribe to our newsletter and YouTube channel.
