Universal’s newest theme park hasn’t even been open that long, and somehow, we’re already talking about what could be coming next.

Epic Universe officially opened back in May 2025, and from day one, it’s been clear that guests really showed up in a big way. Long waits, packed walkways, and massive interest in every single portal have made one thing obvious: this park is wildly popular. And now, thanks to permits and trademarks, it looks like Universal is already setting the stage for what’s ahead. Here’s everything we know so far about potential Epic Universe expansion plans and new experiences.
Epic Universe May Be Prepping for Something BIG
The most recent development comes from a permit filed in early November 2025 that immediately caught our attention. The paperwork lists work at Epic Universe’s official address and references site utilities and foundation work tied to a brand-new structure.

What makes this filing especially interesting is the size. The proposed building comes in at roughly 150,000 square feet, which is far larger than what you’d expect for basic behind-the-scenes support space. Universal hasn’t said what this building will be used for, but the scale alone suggests it’s something more substantial than routine infrastructure.

Fans have already started connecting the dots. There are still large swaths of undeveloped land within the park’s footprint, and many have pointed to the area between Super Nintendo World and Dark Universe as a prime candidate for future development. Whether that means an expansion of an existing portal or something entirely new is anyone’s guess at this point.

To be clear, a permit like this does not automatically mean a brand-new ride or land is imminent. But it does indicate that Universal is actively investing in future construction at Epic Universe, which is notable given how recently the park opened.
Earlier Permits Hinted at Growth Too
Back in July 2025, just weeks after the park debuted, Universal filed additional permits with Orange County that suggested vertical construction was being planned near the front of the park, between the entrance area and Super Nintendo World. Those filings described a project classified as a shop, warehouse, or restaurant, with a footprint of around 40,000 square feet.

While that size points away from a major attraction, it still showed that Universal wasn’t wasting any time when it came to building out the park further. Retail, dining, and operational spaces are crucial for handling large crowds, and Epic Universe has certainly been dealing with those since day one.

At the time, there was no construction timeline listed, and Universal has not publicly commented on what this space will eventually become. Still, the fact that multiple permits surfaced within months of opening has definitely caused a lot of us to raise our eyebrows.
A New Nighttime Show Could Be on the Way
Expansion doesn’t always mean rides or lands, and Epic Universe may also be gearing up to add something guests have been asking for since opening: a bigger nighttime spectacular.

In December 2025, Universal filed a trademark for “Universal Celestial Goodnight,” complete with a stylized logo featuring stars, a crescent moon, and celestial imagery. The name alone strongly suggests a nighttime experience, and the branding lines up perfectly with Celestial Park, the central hub of Epic Universe.

Right now, Epic Universe offers a nighttime fountain show, but many fans have felt the park is missing a true end-of-night moment. Early concept art for the park even featured fireworks, which makes this trademark especially intriguing.

Universal hasn’t confirmed anything yet, and the truth is that trademarks don’t always turn into actual offerings. Still, filing for a show name and logo is often one of the first steps toward something more concrete. If this does turn into a full nighttime spectacular, it could dramatically change how guests experience Epic Universe after dark.
What This All Means for Epic Universe
Taken individually, each permit or trademark could be fairly minor. But when you look at everything together, a pattern starts to emerge. Universal appears to be planning ahead, even while Epic Universe is still in its infancy, and that’s a pretty big deal.

Theme parks usually take years before major expansion conversations become public, yet Epic Universe is already generating that kind of momentum. Whether these developments lead to new dining, expanded lands, or a must-see nighttime show, one thing is clear: Universal isn’t done with Epic Universe. And honestly, we wouldn’t expect them to be.

As always, we’ll be keeping a close eye on every permit, filing, and rumor that pops up. If Universal drops more details, you know we’ll break it down as soon as we can, so make sure you’re following along for all the latest Epic Universe updates.
