The original Universal Orlando can be a tricky resort to maneuver, thanks to its layout, which connects both Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure theme parks with CityWalk and several of the original Universal. After nearly 25 years of visiting the modern incarnation of the resort, we’ve discovered some helpful shortcuts.

These pathways and entrances make it much easier to hit all of the fantastic attractions in both parks with ease, while avoiding the heaviest crowd areas at the resort.
Admittedly, it’s hard to find truly “secret” shortcuts and areas in Universal Studios Florida. With that said, there are pathways less traveled and if you’re looking to maximize your time at the park, you should know what they are.

First up we have to mention the shortcut at the front of the park that connects Minions Land to Hollywood. While not a secret, this pathway IS the quickest way to the other side of the park. Instead of walking all the way around the lagoon, this path saves so much time and gets you near bathrooms if you need those as well.

Speaking of bypassing the lagoon, there’s a wooden bridge shortcut at the back of the park that takes you over the water and into World Expo and Springfield, U.S.A.: Home of The Simpsons! This path isn’t tough to find, but it will save you quite a few steps as you won’t have to walk around the water, and you can cut right through it instead. If you’re coming from the World Expo side, this bridge takes you to San Francisco and Diagon Alley.

Let’s talk entrances. This first isn’t always open, but near Despicable Me Minion Mayhem you’ll find a secret entrance. This entrance is seldom open, but if you’re lucky enough to see it open on a day you visit, with a Park-to-Park ticket, you can easily hop on over to Universal’s Islands of Adventure and wind up in Seuss Landing.
Also in this area is an entrance that leads solely into Universal Studios Florida from CityWalk. Formerly known as the Blue Man Group Entrance, this secret path was next to where the Blue Man Group (the former Nickelodeon Studios for you 90s kids) show used to be in the shopping and dining district.

The last secret shortcut you need to know about has a major caveat: It will save you steps, but won’t save you time. We’re, of course, talking about The Hogwarts Express — King’s Cross Station. Only accessible with a Park-to-Park ticket, this shortcut literally takes you aboard the Hogwarts Express and into Islands of Adventure where you’ll be dropped off at Hogsmeade.
This shortcut includes an unforgettable experience that further immerses you into the world of Harry Potter, featuring scenes from your cabin window and door, themed cabins, and a brought-to-life Platform 9 3/4. However, the wait is usually long and it’s not a cheap add-on.

If we want to really get into secret areas, let’s head next door to Diagon Alley. This Wizarding World of Harry Potter land has multiple entrances, and they can all be tricky to find if you are unfamiliar with the books and movies. First and foremost, look for the “moving” brick wall.
This spot can often fill up with guests taking pictures so head over to the side and take the non-scenic route if you’re looking to get into the land quicker.
Staying in Diagon Alley, the infamous Knockturn Alley is often overlooked by guests who don’t know it exists. Hidden away without bold advertisement (just like how it is in the movies), Knockturn Alley is a dark, airconditioned, and secret area that is home to several nefarious witches and wizards.

To embrace the Dark Arts, keep an eye out for signs and this area’s multiple entrances.

Finally, DreamWorks Land – which replaced Woody Woodpecker’s KidZone back in 2024 – near E.T. Adventure and is quite literally tucked away.

This area is ideal for smaller kids and features a lot of fun attractions and theming from some of our favorite DreamWorks films!
