Piston Peak, the new Cars-themed land coming to Frontierland in Magic Kingdom, is coming soon, and for the new to come in, the old has to leave.

Tom Sawyer Island, Liberty Square Riverboat, and the Rivers of America are closing on July 7th, leaving a lot of Disney fans devastated, with the biggest loss being the Rivers of America. What is Disney doing with the land? Let’s find out!
We love water in a theme park. It can really open up and brighten the space, helping to combat that brutal Florida sunshine.

Rivers of America cuts between Liberty Square and Frontierland and is home to the large Liberty Belle. What’s going to happen to all of that water now that this new area is coming?

The new Piston Peak will have lots of water features! It looks like there’s a whole river running through. It will be smaller than the Rivers of America, but we’re excited to see that there will still be a river.

Disney Imagineering also stated that there are so many water elements that they lost count. From geysers, waterfalls, and streams, there is so much water to see.

In one of the concept art images for the big off-roading ride, we can even see a car filled with guests splashing through the water. This ride will be a racing attraction where each vehicle has its own personality and name.

We’re going to be here sharing all the details as Disney releases more and more, so make sure you’re following AllEars to stay up to date.
PRE-SHOW AND NEW CHARACTER FOR ‘CARS’ RIDE IN MAGIC KINGDOM
What do you think about the water features coming into Piston Peak? Does it make up for the loss of Rivers of America? Tell us your thoughts in the comments.
This sounds like an extremely lame ‘look on the bright side’ statement. It’s almost like when a doctor says you will die soon but at least you won’t have to pay income taxes after that.
The simple fact is Disney management is once again spending an insane amount of money destroying an iconic, beloved attraction that Walt and Roy would preserve in order to burn even more money building something that’s not needed and, given recent creative management failures, will likely be mediocre at best.
Please stop. The Muppets should not be destroyed. The Liberty steamboat should still sail and open land for people to walk and not be crowd-crushed should be preserved.
If Disney needs a fresh ride, do it at the existing, lame Autopia car ride!
