This Disney World Hotel Restaurant Is Permanently CLOSING Soon

Another Disney World dining icon is about to say goodbye for good.

Shula’s Steakhouse

If you’ve ever enjoyed a big, bold steak dinner at the Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel, get ready — Shula’s Steak House is officially closing. The longtime favorite is making way for a brand-new upscale experience: Bourbon Steak by celebrity chef Michael Mina. Plus, there’s already a new spot open at the Dolphin — and it’s a totally different vibe: Lagoon Games, Lanes, and Eats. Let’s break it all down.

Shula’s Steak House Is Closing

After nearly 30 years of serving up hearty steaks and old-school charm, Shula’s Steak House will take its final reservations on June 14th, 2025.

Inside Shula’s Steakhouse

This place has been a bit of a hidden gem. Named after NFL legend Don Shula, it’s got that classic, masculine steakhouse vibe — dark wood, white tablecloths, big portions, and big prices to match. It’s not flashy, but that’s kind of the point. It’s the kind of place where you settle in, order a giant filet, and forget you’re a 10-minute walk from EPCOT.

Shula’s prime rib

But that era is ending. Shula’s is officially being replaced by Bourbon Steak, a fine-dining concept by Michael Mina, who’s behind more than 40 restaurants around the world. We already checked out one of the Bourbon Steak locations in California, and let’s just say… this is not your average hotel restaurant.

So beautiful!

So what can you expect from Bourbon Steak?

Think of it as Shula’s refined cousin who just flew in from Napa. You’ll still find incredible cuts of steak, but everything from the drinks to the desserts is getting a serious glow-up. It’s luxe, it’s modern, and yes — it’s pricey.

Tuna Tartare

At the Dana Point location we visited, here’s what stood out:

  • Cocktails ranged from $30 to $65, including a $64 smoked Old Fashioned that arrived with a branded ice cube and a whole smoky tableside moment.
  • Appetizers like Ahi Tuna Tartare ran about $34, and it was tossed tableside with all the drama you could want.
  • Steaks hovered around $78+ for an 8oz filet — and that’s before sauce add-ons, which were another $12.
  • Sides and desserts landed in the $15–$25 range.

Bottom line? If you’re planning a dinner here, you’re looking at a $175–$225 per person kind of night, before tax and tip. This is going to be one of the more expensive dining experiences on Disney property, right up there with California Grill or even Victoria & Albert’s (depending on how hard you go).

Cooked to perfection!

Is it going to be worth it? If the Disney World version lives up to what we experienced in California, probably. It’s not for a casual bite after a long park day, but if you’re celebrating something or just want one serious splurge meal on your trip, this could be the new go-to.

But Wait — There’s Already Something New at the Dolphin

While Shula’s winds down and Bourbon Steak gets ready for its big debut, there’s already a brand-new spot that’s open over at the Dolphin, and it could not be more different. Say hello to Lagoon Games, Lanes, and Eats.

Lots of games

This spot just took over the space formerly occupied by Picabu, and it’s got a totally different energy. Lagoon is part arcade, part bowling alley, part fast-casual eatery — and honestly, it kind of rules for families or anyone looking to unwind after a park day without going full fine-dining mode.

Lagoon

It’s loud, chaotic, and fun. Tables are scattered throughout the arcade area, so you can eat while your kids (or your inner kid) play a few rounds of bowling or arcade games. You’ll order at a kiosk, then grab your food from the counter when it’s ready.

The spread

Lagoon Games, Lanes, and Eats might not be gourmet, but it’s got charm — and it fills the gap for something more casual and family-friendly at the hotel.

Final Thoughts

If you’ve been meaning to check out Shula’s, you’ve got until June 14th, 2025, to do it. After that, it’s out with the Don Shula steaks and in with Michael Mina’s ultra-bougie cuts.

And if you’re looking for something more fun, fast, and fry-filled in the meantime? Lagoon is ready and waiting. Just don’t forget to save room for dessert.

In the meantime, we’ll be looking for more restaurant updates from Disney World and beyond. Make sure you stay tuned to AllEars for the latest Disney news and more!
