At the D23 Expo in August 2024, Disney announced that they will be building a new coaster themed after Spider-Man! They followed that up, stating the new coaster would find its home at Shanghai Disney. This is Shanghai Disney’s first Marvel ride — and will be a high-energy thrill coaster that takes you on a “high-speed, fully immersive experience”.

Guests will soon be able to experience an all-new Spider-Man themed coaster coming to Shanghai Disneyland.

Disney breaking ground is a huge deal, as Imagineers have officially started the building process! We can’t wait to see the progress and what this will become.

This new themed area will be going right beside “Zootopia Land”, a new world that opened in Shanghai Disney Resort at the end of 2023. It’s a highly immersive land that makes you feel like you’re living in the animal world straight from the movie. The land’s E-Ticket experience is a trackless dark ride called “Zootopia: Hot Pursuit” — a feat in Imagineering as it won the 2025 Thea Award for “Outstanding Achievement in a Theme Park Land”.

Based on Shanghai’s last land, Spider-Man is in great hands! Shanghai is home to some of the most technologically advanced and elite immersive experiences Disney has to offer. Marvel fans should be hyped for what’s in store for Spider-Man. We don’t have a timeline for when it will open, but we’re going to update you along the way!
