Disney has shared some important updates, and you do NOT want to miss out on them!

Disney held an earnings call and released its earnings report for the 2nd quarter of fiscal year 2025 on May 7th, 2025. What does that mean? Well, it means we got some critical updates about Disney+ subscriber numbers, how the theme parks are doing financially, ESPN, and MORE. We’re breaking down all the news you need to know about right here, so let’s dive in!
1 — Financial Overview
First, Disney shared a look at how its overall finances are doing. For this quarter, Disney revealed that its revenues increased 7% for the second quarter of 2025 to $23.6 billion from $22.1 billion in the second quarter of 2024. Income before income taxes increased $2.4 billion for the second quarter of 2025 to $3.1 billion from $0.7 billion in the second quarter of 2024.

Disney’s total segment operating income increase 15% to $4.4 billion in the second quarter of 2025 up from $3.8 billion for the same quarter in 2024.
So now that we’ve got that overview, let’s look at the various divisions that make up the Company and see how they’re doing.
2 — Theme Parks, Cruise Line, and Merchandise (Disney Experiences Division)
Disney’s theme parks, cruise line, and merchandise fall under the Disney Experiences division. In Q2, Disney announced domestic parks income was up 9 percent.

Compare this to Q1, where domestic parks had a decline in operating income due to hurricanes and some other impacts. However, compared to this same time last year, international parks revenue fell by 5 percent.
Disney had previously indicated that bookings were looking strong in the back half of 2025. And during the Q1 call, Disney also shared that bookings were UP for the summer. Disney has announced several things opening for the parks either this summer or later this year, including 2 new shows at Hollywood Studios, various offerings through the “Cool Kid Summer” promotion, a new nighttime parade in Magic Kingdom, and more.

How might these things (along with the official opening of Epic Universe) impact crowds and attendance throughout the rest of the year? That remains to be seen, but we’ll certainly be on the lookout for updates!

3 — Disney+ and More Streaming News
When it comes to streaming, Disney shared that at the end of Q2 2025, domestic subscriptions for Disney+ were up 2% to 57.8 subscribers from 56.8 subscribers this time last year. International subscribers are up 1 percent to 68.2 million subscribers from 67.8 million subscribers in 2024.
Hulu subscribers increased domestically 2% to 54.7 million subscribers in the second quarter of 2025 from 53.6 million subscribers in 2024.

For comparison, at the end of Q1 for fiscal year 2025, Disney had 178 million Disney+ and Hulu Subscriptions and 125 million Disney+ Core paid subscribers.
Previously, Disney’s CFO, Hugh Johnston, said that the current Disney+ pricing is expected to stay the same for the next several months, but pricing will ultimately steadily increase over a period of years.

With new features having been added to Disney+ and new content constantly being added, we’ll be carefully watching just how Disney+ subscribership, policies, and pricing changes in the future.

4 — ESPN
Finally, in terms of ESPN, Disney announced that for Q2 2025, domestic revenue for ESPN is up 7 percent, while international ESPN revenue is up 11 percent.

In more sports news, Disney has already announced the acquisition of a 70% interest in Fubo, but that deal is reportedly being reviewed by the Department of Justice. Disney is also working on a standalone streaming service for ESPN called Flagship, which is set to launch this fall.
We’ll be keeping an eye out for more news on that.
That’s the news from the earnings report for now, but there are more earnings reports, earnings calls, and news drops to come in the future. We’ll be covering ALL of them and bringing the latest to you, so be sure to stay tuned!
