Are you a Hulu+ subscriber?
Disney-owned Hulu offers a variety of options for streamers. It offers exclusive original content, live TV options, and more. You can access Hulu on its own or go through the Disney+ app to watch all your favorites in one convenient location. Soon, even more options will be coming to those who subscribe to Disney’s Hulu+ Live TV!
According to CNBC, Disney and Fubo, a streaming television service, are combining their Hulu+ Live TV and FuboTV bundles to offer one internet TV streaming service. The deal, which is expected to close in 12 to 18 months, will make Disney the majority owner of the new service with a 70% stake while Fubo shareholders will own the remaining 30% stake.
Both of the services, Hulu+ Live TV and Fubo, will still be able to be streamed separately after the deal closes. While the merge combines Hulu+ Live TV with Fubo, it does not include Hulu content, such as Only Murders in the Building and The Handmaid’s Tale.
Fubo is most known for its live news and sports offerings. Previously, Fubo had sued Disney, Warner Bros. Discover, and Fox for their new sports streaming app Venu, which would stream live sporting events all in one spot. The lawsuit claimed that the service would be anti-competitive, and a U.S. judge temporarily blocked Venu from launching, which was supposed to launch in September 2024.
Under the new deal between Disney and Fubo for live TV streaming, a settlement has been made regarding the Venu lawsuit, which means the new sports app could move forward if the three companies choose to. At this time, no plans have been mentioned.
