Epic Universe is almost open!
The brand-new Universal theme park is officially opening on May 22nd, 2025 with three new hotels, 5 themed lands, and more! We were able to check out the park during a preview and we are breaking down a special part of the new Ministry of Magic land.
Epic Universe is unlike anything we have ever seen! The theming is over the top, the food has been so tasty, and the attractions have blown us away. While we are at a preview and can’t share any photos, we can share our experiences and hot takes starting with the brand-new attraction The Battle at the Ministry in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Ministry of Magic!
During our preview, the attraction wasn’t open just yet but they did let us walk through the first floor of the queue! To be honest, our jaw was on the floor the entire walk-through.
You do indeed travel in by Floo Powder with green smoke coming up through the floor twice during our walk. We were blown away by the overall size of the queue because of how tall and wide the entire area was.
We spotted the flags from the concept art which were visible on both sides of the flag with no clear projection making it seem super fluid and magical. We discovered that the extended queue for this attraction will hold up to a 5-hour wait comfortably which we won’t be surprised to see once the attraction and park open.
On the first floor, we also spotted Dolores Umbridge’s infamous pink office from the films. There were cat plates all over the wall in that classicly scary Umbridge style. The attraction will follow Harry, Ron, and Hermione as the trial for Dolores Umbridge begins inside the Ministry until she escapes just before the trial begins.
Also within the queue, we spotted Higgledy, Umbridge’s former house elf, who is trying to clean her office before the trial starts. We were blown away by how fluidly the animatronic was moving and how lifelike it was. The elf had several different sayings as we moved through the queue as well.
If the first floor of the queue is any indication, we have high expectations for this attraction! We originally got a sneak peek inside the attraction when Universal released photos a few months ago! We also know you can expect to see the restored Foutain of Magical Brethren which was destroyed and then replaced once the Ministry fell in the films and the books.
The ride will have Death Eaters attempting to stop your pursuit of Umbridge as she attempts to escape the Ministry! We are eagerly awaiting this attraction and think it will be a huge highlight of the new theme park.
