NEWS: A MAJOR Celebrity Just Crashed Disney's Big News Drop

This event has produced a LOT of breaking news, including details on the new Monsters, Inc. coaster, the Cars Land, and even an EPIC Iron Man attraction. Speaking of Iron Man, we just saw a familiar face at the conference!

Robert Downey Jr. is here at SXSW 2025!

We love RDJ for his iconic role as Iron Man, but he’s also coming back to the Avengers movies in a different way — as Doctor Doom! He’s helping write Doom’s backstory for Avengers: Doomsday. In fact, Downey is involved in a LOT of behind-the-scenes projects with Disney! He was invited into the Imagineering world and commented about the stealth of WDI headquarters, saying, “You wannna talk about a closed set? It’s the Area 51 of fun!”

He helped announce new details on the Stark Flight Lab, which will be the new Iron Man ride announced for the Avengers Campus at Disneyland.

He is reprising his role of Iron Man in the ride and said, “Even after we finish with the Flight Lab, I want to stay with you all for the long haul. This isn’t a one-time deal. You need more me.”

Two Disney executives presented a session called “The Future of World-Building at Disney.” At the 2023 conference, we saw some crazy pieces of technology, like the animatronic that roller-skated by itself and looked like Judy Hopps from Zootpia and a life-size Hulk robot! This year, we learned more details about new rides coming to the parks, like the roller coaster for Monsters, Inc. and new scenes for Smugglers Run.

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run attractions at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort are being updated with a new Mando and Grogu mission, launching Memorial Day Weekend 2026.
