A brand-new, nonstop route is coming to Orlando International Airport (MCO)!
In early March, Spirit Airlines announced that they were launching three new routes from Columbia, South Carolina’s Columbia Metropolitan Airport (CAE): one to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FtLL) in Florida, one to Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), and one to Orlando International Airport. Flights begin on June 5th.
The new routes mark Spirit’s third foray into South Carolina. The airline has run service out of Myrtle Beach (MYR) for more than 25 years and added Charleston (CHS) to its route map in 2023.
John Kirby, Vice President of Network Planning at Spirit Airlines, said in a press release, “We’re excited to kick off our Columbia service just in time for summer and deliver a great value to visit some of the most popular leisure destinations along the East Coast.”
Gregg Hornsby, Interim President & CEO and CFO at Columbia Metropolitan Airport added, “Securing three nonstop routes on Spirit Airlines is a significant accomplishment for the airport and likewise a big win for this entire community and region.”
In celebration of these new routes, Spirit is offering special introductory pricing options. Anyone traveling between South Carolina’s Columbia Metropolitan Airport and any of the three new cities can take advantage of introductory fares starting at $50 one-way for travel between June 5th and August 12th. These special introductory fares are available for purchase through March 20th, 2025.
