What I Eat in a Day as a Disney World Reporter

One of the very first questions that pops out of people’s mouths when they find out I’m a Disney World reporter is, “What do you eat all day?” and well…it’s funny you ask.

What’s the first thing that comes to your mind when someone mentions Disney World? If it’s food, then you and I are on the same wavelength. Before we moved to Florida and traveled down for our Disney World trips, I used to give my husband and kids a lengthy discussion on where to find the best snacks, which restaurants we planned to eat, and how best to budget in everything we wanted to try on our most recent trip (with AllEars’ help, of course). In fact, it got to be such a thing that my husband seriously stopped me once and asked if we were “going to Disney World for rides or if we were going for food” and it really stuck with me.

I’ve spent the last couple of years going to Disney World almost every single day, and when you’re in the parks as often as I am, testing out the latest changes, scoping out the big news of the day, and getting to meet with fun characters, well…a girl’s gotta eat sometimes! As a Disney World reporter I get asked about my eating habits constantly, and I’ve got to admit there’s a story to all of that!

So yes, when someone mentions anything remotely Disney World related, food is one of the very first things that come to mind for me because it’s such a huge part of my job. AllEars reporters are experts in scoping out the latest menu changes, noticing the latest food trends, and yes, that means trying out the latest updates to the menu on occasion to tell you how it tastes.

So giving a “one-size fits all” answer when asked what I eat in a day at Disney World feels a little bit…complicated…sometimes. Admittedly, my day starts pretty early as I get myself ready to go play (work) in the parks and get my kids off to school. Having good gut health is important, especially if I’m going to be trying a lot of foods that particular day (looking at you, EPCOT festivals), so I’m fond of taking a blended superfood supplement packed with vitamins before I’m off for the day.

Sometimes we have an idea in advance of what new foods or updated menu items we’ll be picking up throughout the day and others tend to come as a surprise as we spot them! And that’s kind of the best part of eating my way around Disney World that I love — no two days are the same.

There are days where we’re updating reviews of snacks, full entrees or combo dishes, and even full restaurant reviews, but they don’t always fall on the same day. However, it’s always a particularly exciting day when a combination of those does land within the same daily walk around Disney World, and its made even more scenic when it allows me to hop between Disney World parks and hotels.

Sometimes, when I’m having a really heavy food day, my day can look somewhere along the lines of this. Picking up a snack or two in one park like the Terror Cookie from Joffrey’s…

…and a soda to go with it at the nearby quick service restaurant.

Then it’s off to update another review of a crowd pleaser, for this scenario, we’ll say it’s the Jack-Jack Cookie Num Num from The Market.

Oh! Your day’s not done just yet, it’s been a while since we went to a particular restaurant to make sure we still haven’t changed our opinion of their meals. Then it’s time for a stop by Woody’s Lunch Box for a meal update!

Yeah, when you’ve had a long day with a few snacks, that Grilled Three-Cheese Sandwich with the Tomato Basil Dipper can sure hit the savory spot!

And if we’re really getting wild, let’s throw in a stop by The Cake Bake Shop to try out a seasonal treat or two!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Mousse Pie

Other days though are kind of quiet on the food front. So when there’s not a lot going on that Disney World’s changing to the menus to try out, I tend to go with how I feel on that particular day. Sometimes that looks like picking up a walkable snack like a pretzel or popcorn refill…

Anyone else want a snack?

…other times I’m ready for place to sit for a while and order a bigger meal!

Kansas City Smoked Half-Chicken

It really just depends on the day that you ask! There really isn’t one cookie cutter response that I can offer that would fairly represent my days in the parks, but again, I love that it’s a constantly evolving area of what I do and how our team is able to help you make the best decisions for your upcoming vacations.

I will say though my kids especially love it when I’ve got a really heavy food day, like festival days, because I’m able to bring them home some of the neat things I’ve tried throughout the day and get their opinions on them, too! So if you ever get the chance to ask me more than once, I’d be willing to bet you get completely different answers even if you asked on back to back days.
