REVIEW: We Tested 3 New Treats at Disney World, and One of Them Is LIFE-CHANGING

The Cake Bake Shop has swooped in and stolen our hearts with its new seasonal treats!

On display

We’ve spotted new seasonal treats and rare characters popping up all over Disney World’s parks to celebrate the season of love. We even saw a few of the baddies get in on some Valentine’s Day fun, too. But seriously, if you’re really looking to impress your sweetheart (or treat yourself), we’ve found just the delicious treats you’ve been craving!

The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn Resort is one of  Disney World’s newest restaurants that consistently seems to wow us again and again — and it doesn’t seem like they’re letting up on that momentum anytime soon.

The Cake Bake Shop

When The Cake Bake Shop officially opened in late 2024, it debuted a whole new menu of delicious dishes and tasty to-go-style treats that could be enjoyed at either its restaurant or bakery. The bakery is incredible and difficult to pass up — we’ve become big fans of their gigantic (yet pricey) cake slices and delicate desserts.

Inside the bakery

We recently stopped by The Cake Bake Shop’s bakery to try out a few of its newest seasonal offerings. We were instantly attracted to one of their Valentine’s Day offerings, a decadent mousse pie, and a new flavor of yummy cake.

First up to try out was the Chocolate Peanut Butter Mousse Pie, which will set you back $16.99 for a slice. This slice is made of Callebaut Belgian chocolate cookie crust filled with creamy peanut butter mousse, topped with Callebaut Belgian chocolate ganache, and freshly roasted chopped peanuts.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Mousse Pie

If you’re appealed at first glance, allow us to elaborate. This mousse pie is like a whipped version of a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup and even more decadent. The chocolate crust crumbles like you would expect a pie crust to and the center is filled with a peanut butter mousse that was built for eating by the spoonful.

A spoonful

The top layer of chocolate will melt in the warm sun if you let it sit too long, but we don’t think you’ll have to worry about that too much. Once you pop a spoonful in your mouth, it might not last outside your belly too long!

Next up to try out was the Amor de Macaron. This treat is made in a large heart-shaped macaron shell filled with pastry cream, Raspberry Pixie Jam, and rose buttercream. It also comes topped with fresh raspberries and will cost you $14.99.

Amour de Macaron

Honestly, this is just a different version of the existing Marie Antoinette dessert you’ll find at The Cake Bake Shop, but that doesn’t mean it didn’t taste divine.

Berries and buttercream

We definitely loved the trip down memory lane as we took this treat’s first bites, hinting at the familiar rose-flavored buttercream icing against the macaron shells that crumbled with each bite and the raspberry pixie jam mixed among the fresh berries. If you’re already a fan of the existing treat, this version offers a new twist on the classic offering.

They say good things come in threes, so why not round out our review with one more? We also picked up a slice of Coconut Cake. This beautiful cake is made up of three layers of coconut cake filled with freshly shaved coconut and coconut cream. Then it’s topped with coconut buttercream frosting and more freshly shaved coconut. It’ll cost you $22.99 just like the other cake slice flavors, but how does it compare to the rest?

Slice of Coconut Cake

Admittedly, our reporter trying this one said coconut isn’t their favorite flavor of cake but honestly it wasn’t too bad. You’ll have to appreciate a more moist cake and since this one has a lot of those coconut shavings in between the layers, it stands to reason this one could have a little more difficulty staying together — but isn’t that half the fun of it, too!?

Coconut cake seasonal offering

Yes, it’s a pricey slice of cake and more of a true treat than some of the rest, but for a seasonal flavor you won’t find year-round, it was delicious.

Hard to scoop but so good

It was just as moist and soft as we’ve come to learn of the rest of The Cake Bake Shop’s cake creations, and the coconut flavor was spot on without being too loud. Again, though, you’ll have a hard time getting past the texture of the coconut shavings, so if you’re not a fan of the crunchy consistency you might find in your bites, you might want to choose a different flavor.

There’s plenty more where these sweet treats came from! We’re on the lookout for the newest foods and menu changes that hit Disney World all the time. Be sure you’re following along with us at AllEars so you don’t miss a thing!

  1. I’ve been so excited about the opening of the Cake Bake Shop, and I got to have both Afternoon Tea and lunch there last week. Both were delicious, and quiche is the best I’ve ever had. The cake slices are moist and flavorful. But, if I had. Quibble, it would be about the frosting. They say it’s a buttercream frosting, but it tastes more like whipped cream. I miss the confectioner’s sugary taste and texture. But otherwise, a phenomenally beautiful place, tasty food and good service.
