Muppet fans, we need a win after the heartbreaking news of learning that Muppet*Vision 3D will be closing this summer to make way for the Monster’s Inc. land in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. And you might be able to catch these Muppets a little closer to home — no need to travel to Disney World for this event!
While the team here at AllEars is a hardcore group of Muppet fans, there’s a smaller group of fans who know about the Fraggle Rock muppets. Fraggle Rock might feel like a 90’s fever dream, but for those of us (like me) who grew up waiting for it each week and singing along to the theme song, this might be the BEST news we could hear right now.
Fraggle Rock is going on tour! The new show named “Jim Henson’s Fraggle Rock: Back To The Rock LIVE” will be based on the Apple+ TV series with the loveable muppet-cousins. This marks a moment in history for the Jim Henson company, too, as it’s the first-ever live on-stage adventure for the lovable Fraggles and Doozers.
Join Gobo, Red, Mokey, Wembley, and Boober Fraggle as they embark on a journey to find the Celebration Stone! The legend behind the Celebration Stone tells of “an ancient Fraggle treasure that has the power to bring everyone together for the greatest party of all time” but was unfortunately shattered and lost generations ago. The Fraggles must learn to work together on an “exhilarating, adventurous journey” as they explore new caves, discover magic they never knew existed, and hopefully find the lost pieces of the magical Celebration Stone.
The first-of-its-kind live show promises immersive special effects, audience interactivity, heartwarming moments, and funny and endearing new characters, making this an experience perfect for families with young first-time theater goes and for us older Fraggle Rock fans who remain young at heart.
The Fraggles kicked off their North American tour on January 18th in Glendora, California, with stops across 48 cities, including Las Vegas, Austin, Indianapolis, Ottawa, Akron, Tampa, and more. Tickets are on sale now at http://www.fragglerocklive.com/.
