REVIEW: We Tried 4 New Disney World Treats and They Were ALL Winners

Did we just try the mightiest of the limited-time eats in Disney World?

Mufasa Pride Rock Profiterole

From time to time, Disney World releases a few limited-time treats and snacks that coincide with a major movie release in theaters. While some of us already ran to the theaters to see the newest movie spinoff from The Lion King, there’s still the question of how soon we can anticipate streaming it on Disney+. In either case, we knew to anticipate these snacks days ago, but now that they’re finally here, we couldn’t fight the urge to try them out any longer.

Hot on the heels of the successful release of Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King in theaters, there’s a whole new line of limited-time snacks just waiting for you to discover them!

Mufasa Cake Bars

If you haven’t already had the chance to see the feature film, Mufasa: The Lion King is a sort of spin-off movie of the latest reboot of The Lion King franchise. This time, the story follows Simba’s father, Mufasa, from his optimistic young start in life with his parents all the way through to his reluctant rise to becoming king roaring atop Pride Rock.

If you happen to be visiting Disney World soon, you could even get into the spirit a bit more with some treats and snacks themed to the movie’s release that celebrate Mufasa! We recently had a chance to try out several of these new menu items and we can’t wait to tell you all about them.

The first treat we happened to spot can be found in Disney Springs over at Amorette’s Patisserie.

Amorette’s Patisserie

Here you’ll find all sorts of themed sweets and treats but this is also a popular spot if you’re searching for seasonal and limited-release items you probably won’t find anywhere else! This is where we picked up the Mufasa Cake Bar.

This fine treat is made of cinnamon-vanilla mousse and vanilla chiffon with caramel chocolate-coated crunch dipped in dark chocolate for $8.25.

Does this look a little off to you, too?

Yeah, it’s a little pricey for a modified cake pop but you’ve just got to taste this one! It’s kinda chewy on the inside thanks to all of the ingredients melding together but you’ve really got to be a fan of cinnamon to enjoy this version. Disney World loves a chance to make a themed cake bar (especially after a popular character) but this one might be a little much unless you really love that spicy tingle that cinnamon can bring to your taste buds.

The outside decor is coated with fondant and chocolates but we have to admit we were a bit weirded out by a printed image of a realistic lion cub staring right back at us! If you can get past the cub stares from a future king, we think you’ve got a fighting chance at really loving this one!

Our search for even more themed snacks took us in another direction over to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. This park is home to so many wonderful animals to see and hear as well as the popular Festival of the Lion King stage show, so it seemed like a fitting place to find most of the remaining items.

Animal Kingdom

We decided to cross off a few items off of our list in one fell swoop so we were off to Harambe Market in Africa!

This quick service restaurant serves two of the newer menu items for the ‘Mufasa’ lineup and we even made a meal out of them together!

For our drink, we picked up the Sunrise Of The Kingdom which consists of a blend of freshly brewed green tea, strawberry, and Minute Maid® premium lemonade topped with passion fruit boba pearls. This one will cost you $6.49.

Sunrise Of The Kingdom

This one quickly won us over with its smooth refreshing taste but you’ll want to be prepared that this is more like a strawberry-flavored lemonade/tea drink. The strawberry and lemonade were the prominent flavors here while the green tea served more of a subtle undertone to the drink overall. The passion fruit boba pearls were fun to pop and are served at the top unless you give your drink a few swirls with your straw and catch a few with each sip.

The Savory Tanzanian Pie was next on our list. It’s a dish made of African-spiced beef and lamb stuffed in naan, drizzled with spicy ketchup, and served with house-made chips and will cost you $13.29.

Savory Tanzanian Pie

Yeah, it might not look like it’s super filling at first but we found that it surprised us in a good way. The naan bread that makes up the pie’s outer crust was toasted just enough to give it a firm form yet soft enough to taste almost like pizza crust while the inside mixture of beef, lamb, and spiced sauces created a harmonious savory pie.

When we got the taste of the spiced ketchup on top, it was almost like eating a weird version of a meatloaf in a pie but we didn’t mind at all.

Delicious!

The house-made chips were a bit stale tasting to us but as a whole, they were more unique than most house-made chips around Disney World as they were tossed in spices that gave it a nice salty and spiced flavor!

Even though our reporter grabbing this dish is a self-proclaimed picky eater, she had no problem savoring every last bite and sip!

Of course, we needed to round out our journey with something sweet so we ventured over to Creature Comforts for a quick snack!

Creature Comforts

In case you’re not familiar, Creature Comforts is the Starbucks restaurant in Disney’s Animal Kingdom where you’ll often find the park’s seasonal and limited-release treats and snacks.

Our sights were locked on the Mufasa Pride Rock Profiterole! This treat will cost you $4.79 and is made of a cream puff filled with chocolate cream and whipped coffee ganache.

This was the perfect treat to round out our adventurous eats. The puff pastry pulled apart so nicely to reveal the chocolate cream-filled center.

Look at that chocolate filling!

The chocolate flavor wasn’t overbearing and still allowed for the fluffy ganache icing at the top of the treat that also had a light coffee taste to it. There were even a few chocolate crisp pearls to add a little something special to your bites while the notable pride rock from the film was printed on the white chocolate topping piece.

So tasty!

Overall we were floored at how great all of these treats and snacks taste and we wouldn’t mind picking any of them up again on a return trip.
