Mufasa has only been in movie theaters for a few days, so you may think it is crazy that we are already asking when the film will make its way to Disney’s streaming service, Disney+.

The thing is, it is not too crazy of a question. This year, Disney had multiple blockbuster successes with the releases of Inside Out 2 and Deadpool & Wolverine, both of which have already made their way onto the streaming platform. So when can we expect to stream Disney’s latest film from the comfort of our homes?
Inside Out 2 was released in theaters on June 14th, 2024, and Deadpool & Wolverine was released in theaters on July 26th, 2024. We speculated about when these films would be on Disney+ based on Disney’s history. Both of these films saw huge numbers at the box office, so it made sense that Disney would want to keep these films off their streaming platform and continue to make revenue elsewhere.

Eventually, it was announced that Inside Out 2 would come to Disney+ on September 25th, 2024. This is a little over three months, which is on par with what we saw with previous films—for example, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was released into theaters on May 5th, 2023, and was put on Disney+ on August 2nd, 2023, lining up with the three-month mark.

Deadpool & Wolverine also stuck to the three-month schedule as it was uploaded for streaming on Disney+ on November 12th, 2024, just about three months and two weeks after its theatrical release.

Mufasa was released in theaters on December 20th, 2024. If it were to stick to Disney’s usual three-ish month schedule, that would mean it should arrive on Disney+ sometime in mid-March 2025. Now, this is NOT guaranteed, nor is it confirmed. This is simply a theory based on Disney’s history, making its new releases available on Disney+ around three months after they are released in theaters.

There have been outliers in this situation as films like Wish have taken four months to be released to Disney+, so we will just have to wait and see. So, for now, if you wish to see Disney’s latest film, Mufasa, along with Moana 2, you will have to see it in theaters in the foreseeable future.

As always, we are on the lookout for the latest Disney news and will make sure to let you all know as soon as we find out when both Moana 2 and Mufasa will be making their way to Disney+, so make sure to stay tuned to AllEars!
