One of television’s biggest actors is making the hyperspace jump to a galaxy far, far away.

Earlier this year, Disney announced that a big-screen adaptation of The Mandalorian — the popular Star Wars Disney+ series focused on the adventures of the titular bounty hunter portrayed by Pedro Pascal and his surrogate son Grogu AKA Baby Yoda — was coming to movie theaters in 2026. Production on the film was completed in the latter half of the year, and now it’s been confirmed that postproduction will see the star of one of television’s most popular shows added to the film.
In mid-December 2024, it was announced that Jeremy Allen White was joining The Mandalorian & Grogu as the voice of Rotta the Hutt, the son of well-known Star Wars character Jabba the Hut.
Little is known about the specific plot of The Mandalorian & Grogu other than that it follows the first three seasons of the smash series, though the confirmed presence of Rotta the Hutt in the film implies that it will be picking up plot threads from another related Disney+ series, The Book of Boba Fett.

The casting is the first major franchise role for White, whose having a massive career breakout in recent years. The actor first came to fame as Philip “Lip” Gallagher on the Showtime series Shameless. However, his lead role on The Bear is what’s launched him to stardom.

His portrayal of Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto — the conflicted New York City chef who returns to Chicago to take over his family’s sandwich restaurant — is at the center of the smash-hit Hulu/FX series’ success. White has won back-to-back Emmy, Golden Globe, and SAG awards for the role.
In the wake of his Bear success, White has also been cast as Bruce Springsteen in the Scott Cooper-directed Deliver Me from Nowhere. The biopic revolved around the early 80s period when the legendary rocker was recording his critically acclaimed Nebraska album, which was intertwined with the sessions for his mega-successful Born in the USA album several years later.
The Bear star Jeremy Allen White, riding a wave of career success, has been added to the highly-anticipated upcoming Mandalorian & Grogu film as the voice of Rotta the Hutt. Stay tuned to AllEars for more on Disney’s upcoming film slate.
