Experts Agree This Is the Worst Thing You Can Pack in Your Disney World Park Bag

So your Disney World trip is planned and you’ve picked a place to stay, bought your tickets, and booked a flight to Orlando.

Don’t forget to pack a park bag!

All that’s left is to pack (and if you need ideas, we’ve got a packing list right here). You’ll also need to think about what to bring in your day bag, aka park bag, too, though, because there are things you’ll need while you’re walking all over the World. However, there are also things you should NOT pack in your park bag.

Leaky Water Bottle

There’s nothing like putting a leaky or sweating water bottle in your bag and then realizing it has managed to get everything else in your bag soaking wet. However, it’s important to have a water bottle handy because you need to stay hydrated in Disney World. We love our handy dandy Owala FreeSip Water Bottle and it goes pretty much everywhere we go.

It’s a great water bottle!

This is one water bottle that won’t leak — and you can even turn it into a souvenir like we did and get the characters to sign it.

Melty snacks

It might seem like a good idea to throw a few snacks in your bag to save some money but make sure you pack snacks that don’t melt. Things like chocolate will just turn to liquid in that Florida heat and humidity and you’ll just end up with a big old mess.

Food melts FAST in Florida

So bring snacks that won’t melt like chips, crackers, etc.

Metal Glasses Case

So we’ve been hit with this before: trying to take a metal glasses case through security. Here’s the thing: it will set off the detectors, so you’ll need to make sure you leave it at home. Instead a nice soft Eyeglass Case like this one that will protect your glasses and not stall you at security.

This goes for other metal objects, too — be sure to keep them out of your bag before you walk through security.

Prohibited Items

Before you even think about packing your day bag, know that Disney has very specific rules about what you can and can’t bring into the parks. Prohibited items include firearms and other weapons, self-defense devices, illegal substances, fireworks, glass containers, alcoholic beverages, and more.

Know what you can’t bring to the parks

Be sure to read Disney World’s official rules on Prohibited Items on the Disney World website. Otherwise, you might be surprised at the gate.

Other things that can leak

Although it’s important to keep things like sunscreen, lotion, hand sanitizer, and other items in your bag, be sure that they are in containers or in forms that won’t leak all over your things.

When it comes to sunscreen, we like this Mineral Powder Sunscreen that doubles as a translucent powder to lock your makeup in place. Look great AND protect your skin, right?

Your hotel refillable mug

Those hotel refillable mugs are great if you’re visiting Disney World hotels, but you don’t want to take them to the parks. Why? Well, you can’t use them in the parks — they are ONLY good at Disney World hotels’ quick service locations. So you won’t be getting free refills in the parks.

Refillable hotel mug

So leave that refillable mug at home and just bring a good water bottle with you to the parks instead. Also, remember you can get free water at Disney World quick service locations plus there are water bottle refill stations in all four parks.

We hope this helps when you get ready to pack that park bag. Also, we hope you have a great trip! Check back with AllEars again soon for more.

  1. Disagree on the refillable mug. If I have it with me I can go straight to transportation from breakfast without walking all the way back to my room, and I will have it with me when I return so I can refill before I turn in for the night. Alsoif I resort hop during the day, I can fill it wherever I am. I also use it just for water refills in the parks instead of the tiny cups they give you in the counter service restaurants. Really they are quite handy, lighter to carry than a water bottle, and easy to clip with a carabiner onto whatever bag I am carrying.

    1. I very much agree with you, we fill leaving the resort and when we order quick service we get s soda ( sorry pop Canadian ) and pour our drink in it and it holds the ice and is a lifesaver sometimes, woopee in my backpack pouch

  2. I always carry a mini first aid kit. I especially refill it with cushion band aides. Your feet will thank you for it. I also put a few ibuprofen in it too. All day on rides in the heat can give you a headache.
I always have hand wipes, travel size spray deodorant and sunscreen, phone charger, cooling towel and poncho. Sometimes I’ll even put an extra t-shirt incase I spill something. I won’t have to waste time going back to my hotel by doing this.
