If you want to get off to a very quick start to your day at Universal, my secret is to stay in one of the Universal resorts that lets you take the walking path to City Walk. The walking path has an entrance into the far end of city walk, near the Jimmy Buffet location, much closer to the actual parks than the bus or parking area, and the security there opens at the SAME time that the busses or water taxi starts to roll. When I have been waiting to enter at 1 hour before early opening, I have always managed to be 1st or 2nd at the “turnstiles” to enter. Last time, I had finished riding Hagrid and was drinking a butter beer 15 minutes after official early opening time, and as an older person (over 65) I had to walk through Seuss Landing, etc to get there. I think this gives an extra half hour to an hour of effective park time.
