People Spent $185 on a Disney World Meal…and It Was “Not Worth It”

There really isn’t anything like eating at Disney World!

Flying Fish

If you’ve never been to Disney’s BoardWalk, you’re in for a treat as there are some pretty special restaurants like AbracadaBar, Trattoria al Forno, and Flying Fish. Now, to be honest, just because the specific restaurant you’re interested in might come with a high price tag, that doesn’t mean the experience will be flawless. To that point, one of our readers recently shared that after spending $185, their experience wasn’t quite worth it. Let’s talk about it!

As we were saying, recently, one of our readers shared their dining experience at Flying Fish, and “spoiler alert,” they weren’t too thrilled with how their $185 meal for two turned out. But before we cast judgment, let’s break down what happened.

Flying Fish

What Went Down?

One of our readers rated the Flying Fish a mere 4 out of 10, which is pretty underwhelming for a spot that screams upscale dining. To give you a quick rundown, they dished out $185 for two people and felt like they didn’t quite get the magic they were expecting.

They shared that while the atmosphere was nice, they felt it was too expensive for what they got, especially since the service was just okay. Also, they didn’t get their Disney Vacation Club (DVC) discount (which, to be fair, does sting when you’re expecting it).

Now, in terms of the food, they admitted it was good, but “good” wasn’t enough to justify the price tag. When you’re shelling out that much cash, you expect something more than just “good.”

What Has Our Experience Been?

So, we’ve eaten here before. What did we think? The times we’ve been there, we’ve had relaxing experiences and delicious seafood. To be fair, the service has been a bit slow, which makes it not the best spot if you’re looking to dine in a hurry.

Let’s go over a couple of our thoughts about the restaurant:

    • Let’s be clear, the seafood here is impressive. From octopus that’s done right (and let’s face it, octopus is tricky), to a perfectly cooked Sea Bass, the Flying Fish nails it on the seafood front.
    • This place is pricey. With appetizers ranging from $15 to $21, and entrees that can hit $58 (before any fancy add-ons), this is not a casual meal, but if you’re celebrating something special and are okay with the price tag, it can be worth the splurge for the experience.
    • To that point, the ambiance at Flying Fish is great for a date night or a special celebration. The vibe is a little more sophisticated, and it’s a solid choice if you want to make a night out of it.
    • The menu at Flying Fish leans heavily into seafood, so if you’re rolling with someone who isn’t into fish or doesn’t appreciate fine dining, this might not be their jam.
    • This place is more of a refined, upscale vibe, so if you’re searching for something with more of that whimsical Disney theming or family-friendly feel, you might want to keep looking.

  1. Sounds like that person is high maintenance, good luck to their partner. We’ve eaten there plenty of times and it was fantastic.
