Well, it looks like Amazon Prime Video is the next in a long line of streaming services to pull the plug on a popular series.

Despite the positive reviews and internet buzz around one of its newest shows, Amazon is canceling a series after just one season.
Amazon has canceled My Lady Jane, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The eight-episode series was a period drama with fantasy elements and is available to stream exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. This cancelation comes after the show ran for just one season.

The trailer teases “an epic tale of true love, high adventure, devious intrigues, and swashbuckling swordfight,” and the story follows Jane Grey (a human), who forms an affection for the “oppressed shape-shifters.”

My Lady Jane is based on a novel by Cynthia Hand. The series stars Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows and is set in 16th-century England.

If you haven’t read the book, we recommend checking it out before watching the show! The novel has a 4.02-star average on Goodreads and the series has an impressive score of 94% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Although the series gained some traction on social media, My Lady Jane was not listed on Nielsen’s top 10 streaming charts following its release on June 27th.
In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.
