I Go To Disney World Every Day and I Can’t Believe People Still Don’t Know THIS

People NEED to do their research.

Magic Kingdom

Look, we understand that Disney World can be complicated. It’s a large, sprawling complex of hotels, theme parks, water parks, etc. On top of that, Disney has a habit of occasionally making things more… complicated than they arguably need to be. That being said, there are still some basic facts that a Disney World guest really should know before they go.

The Monorail and Skyliner Don’t Run to Every Park

The Monorail and Skyliner are both outstanding methods of transportation that connect part of Walt Disney World. However, neither runs to every park. The Monorail only heads to Magic Kingdom and EPCOT, and Skyliner only EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. All too often, we see guests who don’t know that and are flabbergasted they can’t take the Monorail to Studios, or that their uncharged Skyliner hotel doesn’t offer “quicker” passage to the Magic Kingdom.

You Can’t Park at the Magic Kingdom

Speaking of the Monorail, the amount of people who still are shocked that they can’t park right outside the Magic Kingdom and walk up to the park. For over 50 years, guests driving to the “Most Magical Place on Earth” have had to park at the Transportation and Ticket Center and take either the Monorail or watercraft to the Magic Kingdom’s entrance.

Dining Reservations are a Necessity if You Have Your Heart Set on a Specific Restaurant

While it is *possible* to eat at a Walt Disney World restaurant without an advanced dining reservation, it’s by no means a guarantee. Therefore, if there’s a specific restaurant you have your heart set on, MAKE THE DINING RESERVATION as soon as possible (60 days beforehand). Don’t get stuck grumbling around the park at dinner time with nowhere to eat.

The Parks Aren’t in Walking Distance of Each Other

Unlike their California cousins at the Disneyland Resort, almost none* of Walt Disney World’s theme parks are within walking distance of each other, which HAS to be taken into account when booking dining reservations or Lightning Lanes.

There’s a walkway to Hollywood Studios and EPCOT

*Technically, EPCOT and Hollywood Studios are within walking distance and connected by a path. However, know that this is by no means a short walk, so don’t try stacking dining reservations or Lightning Lanes assuming it’s a quick jaunt — depending on your walking speed, it could take 20-30 minutes or so to walk it.

Lightning Lanes Don’t Automatically Mean Zero Wait

Disney has changed their “skip the line” system a few times over the years. However, whether FastPass, FastPass+, Genie+, or the current Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass system, there’s one thing they all have in common: Certain guests seem to think having one means they’ll be ZERO wait. This simply isn’t the case. While the wait will always be shorter, there’s pretty much guaranteed to be some sort of queue to wait In before boarding.

Disney Has Made the My Disney Experience App Integral to the Theme Park Experience

We’ve talked about dining reservations and Lightning Lanes. What do they have in common? The My Disney Experience App. For better or worse, Disney has made the app an integral part of the Disney World experience, and a trip to the parks is almost impossible without it. Yet, despite ample advertising from Disney, we still encounter guests unaware or unwilling to use it.

Finally, Harry Potter is not at Disney!

Yes. Even after almost 15 years, and two large lands in two different parks with a third on the way, there are still guests who think that “Harry Potter Land” is somewhere at Walt Disney World instead of Universal Orlando.
