A NEW Disney perk is LIVE.

Last month, Disney shocked the theme park world by announcing a full reinvention of their skip-the-line system, ditching Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lanes , and instead introducing Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass. These new systems not only changed how and when rides can be reserved, they also introduced one of the most valuable perks Disney has ever offered their hotel guests.
Disney hotel guests have long had access to perks unavailable to other guests, including access to Disney Transportation – – like buses, the Monorail, and the Skyliner – – and early and late park hours (though, some hotel perks have been dwindling in recent years). However, this new addition is arguably the biggest hotel perk in Disney World history from an in-park standpoint.
How? Well first, a quick explainer of the new systems:
Lightning Lane Multi Pass will allow you to make 3 Lightning Lane selections in a specific Disney World theme park in advance of your visit, while Lightning Lane Single Pass purchases will allow you to “secure a time to ride one of (Disney’s) most highly demanded attractions” for an additional charge in advance.

How far in advance? Well, this is where being a hotel guest comes in handy.
According to Disney, “Guests staying at a Disney Resort hotel and other select hotels will be able to plan Lightning Lane passes (both Multi and Single) UP TO 7 days in advance, for their entire stay (up to 14 days). All other guests can ONLY plan up to 3 days in advance.”

In other words, those staying at a Disney hotel have a 4-DAY head start on making both Multi Pass and Single Lightning Lane reservations! While we think it’s likely that Disney will have separate “pools” of reservations for the 7-day and 3 three day window, it’s still a massive advantage for hotel guests to have four extra days to ensure that they’ll be able to score the Lightning Lanes they want for their trip.

Walt Disney World’s latest hotel perk — one so consequential that it may sway those planning on staying off-property to at least consider staying at a Disney hotel — is now officially LIVE. Stay tuned to AllEars for further coverage of the new Lightning Lane rollout.
