We love the Disney World hotels, and we certainly don’t think we’re alone when it comes to that.
There are so many to choose from, but one that will likely forever remain popular with us and other fans alike is Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. It’s gorgeous, and where else can you view animals like that at a hotel in Florida?! But, there’s one major problem with this hotel according to fans.
Oh, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. We love ya. Not only can you view live safari animals such as giraffes, zebras, and antelopes from many rooms and overlooks, but this hotel is also home to some of the BEST restaurants on Disney World property. This deluxe resort is popular, and it’s clear why.
But, it seems as though all is not perfect at Animal Kingdom Lodge, at least according to one of our YouTube subscribers. We got a comment on one of our room tour videos of this hotel that read, “That pullout couch is an actual torture device and they desperately need to upgrade to Murphy beds!!”
That is a pretty strong opinion — but it’s a valid one for sure. In fact, a majority of the hotels that have had major refurbishments in Disney World have had their pull-out couches replaced with Murphy beds — ones that pull down from the wall instead.
You might be wondering how a pull-down bed would be any better than a pull-out couch, but there’s actually a pretty big difference — and it’s all about the mattress.
Typically, a pull-out couch has a mattress that folds in half so it can be put back into couch form, and they’re typically pretty thin and uncomfortable. Beds that pull down from the wall, however, are typically regular-sized mattresses, similar to what you’d find on a normal hotel bed.
For most people, that makes pull-down beds the clear winner, and we can’t say we disagree. In both scenarios, you lose seating space when the bed is out, but that’s pretty typical of a hotel room with an extra bed like one of these!
Will this be a huge dealbreaker for some? Maybe! But there are multiple room types available at this hotel, so it’s worth double-checking the details when you go to book. Speaking of which…

Its good for kids. I never thought an adult would sleep on a sofa bed. The murphy beds are fine though in the Art of Animation hotel
Just wondering……who is Murphy? The thing people don’t like is a sofa bed. Why not a pull down bed or a wall bed? Why a Murphy bed? Some person from Idaho or something that came up with the idea?
