The Minions are coming!

Despicable Me 4, the latest film in Illumination’s ever-expanding Minions-verse of films, is scheduled for release on July 3rd. Now, Universal has teamed up with McDonald’s to promote the film in one of the most iconic ways possible — Happy Meal toys.
This latest Happy Meal offers 10 Minion toys, each of them featured in a specific outfit from the new film.

In addition, each of the toys are made up of interchangeable halves, meaning that the tops and bottoms can be swapped between them, creating a litany of costume and character combinations.

Furthermore, each toy comes with a “Mission Card” that can be used to access content that’s part of the Save the Smiles game on the McDonald’s App.

Despicable Me 4 is the latest major film to feature a Happy Meal tie-in this year, joining Inside Out 2, as well as Marvel Studios’ Captain America: Brave New World and Pixar’s Elio, neither of which are coming to theaters until 2025.

The official synopsis of Despicable Me 4 reads, “Gru welcomes a new member to the family, Gru Jr., who’s intent on tormenting his dad. However, their peaceful existence soon comes crashing down when criminal mastermind Maxime Le Mal escapes from prison and vows revenge against Gru.”
The film, the overall sixth in the franchise, is co-directed by Chris Renaud and Patrick Delage, written by Mike White and Ken Daurio, and features a cast mixing veterans of the franchise with newcomers including Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, Pierre Coffin, Joey King, Miranda Cosgrove, Stephen Colbert, Steve Coogan, Sofía Vergara, Renaud, Madison Polan, Dana Gaier, Chloe Fineman, and Will Ferrell. Heitor Pereira and Pharrell Williams also returned to work on the film’s music, including the score as well as original songs.

Despicable Me 4, the latest installment in the sprawling franchise is expected to be a huge hit over the 4th of July holiday weekend, which will likely make these Happy Meal toys hot items. Stay tuned to AllEars for further Happy Meal coverage.
