Universal’s Epic Universe is set to open in 2025, and though we don’t have an official opening date yet, we’re getting closer to knowing all there is to know about this new theme park.

Epic Universe will feature lands inspired by Super Nintendo World, the How to Train Your Dragon-themed Isle of Berk, a new installment of the Wizarding World, and what might be the most exciting: Dark Universe, the home of the Universal Monsters. Universal just shared a ton of new photos of Dark Universe, so let’s check them out!
Universal has officially announced all the new rides, restaurants, shops, and more coming to Dark Universe — the classic Universal Monsters-themed land. We’ve rounded up all the new concept art they released along with the news, so let’s take a virtual tour of Dark Universe!
Let’s start where all good monstrous tales begin — the origin (or, in our case, the entrance).

As you enter through the Dark Universe portal’s entrance, you’re immediately immersed into Darkmoor Village. This is the town Universal has created to house the classic tales of good versus evil, some of the most identifiable monsters in horror history, and will invite you to dine with vampires or sit around to listen to stories from accomplished creature captors abound.
That’s not all you’ll find here, though — there’s plenty more to be discovered! After passing through the portal, you’ll have opportunities to meet monsters with some of the most notable stories in cinematic history, like Frankenstein’s monster, the Bride of Frankenstein, Victoria Frankenstein’s servant, Ygor, The Invisible Man, an eccentric monster hunter, and a talented musician who regales guests with songs and tales of the classic Universal Monsters stories!

But being human around here could prove quite dangerous around so many creatures. When visiting Darkmoor Village, it’s best to blend in with the crowd, and luckily, they’ve got just the shop to help you do that!

Darkmoor Monster Makeup Experience has been announced for Dark Universe, too. All ages will be welcome to join in the frightful fun of elaborate face paint and temporary tattoos. According to Universal, “Monster Makers” have converted Dr. Pretorius’ infamous lab into a parlor to continue the spirit of his demented experiments. These Monster Makers will attempt to continue the Doctor’s work as your assistant to transform you into some of the most glamorous ghouls and ghastly creatures known to walk the area. But we have to warn you now: your makeup transformation could be downright frightening!
Now that you can walk around less detectable to the roaming creatures of the land, it’s time to check out the attractions you’ll find here, starting with Curse of the Warewolf.

This spinning family coaster looks to give you some serious thrills as you zoom through scenes inspired by The Wolf Man. Brave riders will enter the encampment of The Guild of Mystics, where they’ll be greeted by the guild’s all-knowing seer and leader, Maleva, who cautions you against those who carry the mark of the werewolf.

After you’ve boarded your wagon and ventured into the forest, you’ll find yourselves racing to escape the werewolves before they can catch up to you to turn you into one of their own!
While you’re visiting, plan to take a ride on Monster’s Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment.

This dark ride will take you deep into the catacombs of Frankenstein Manor, where Dr. Victoria Frankenstein performs her “twisted experiments.” To witness her genius experiments come to life, she’s invited you inside to demonstrate her ability to control monsters. However, her plans go awry when her attempts to control Dracula fail, allowing an opportunity to unleash a horde of enraged monsters.

You’ll then be swiftly thrust into a dark ride to attempt to evade the claws of some of horror’s most monstrous creatures like The Wolf Man, The Mummy, The Creature from the Black Lagoon, the Brides of Dracula, and more.
Ah, you’ve probably worked up quite a hefty appetite after so many thrills. It’s time we feast! Here’s where you’ll have options.
Those who find themselves drawn to the darkness might enjoy a meal at Das Stakehaus.

As Darkmoor’s most ominous restaurant, this quick service restaurant is a dining hall run by vampire “familiars.” They’re ready to size up unsuspecting patrons to be part of the vampires’ feast. Here, you’ll find yourself surrounded by artwork and artifacts detailing the history of the village’s creatures while enjoying a menu of kebabs, burgers, sandwiches, and more.
Or, you could take your chances dining at The Burning Blade Tavern.

Darkmoor’s monster hunters have transformed this old fiery mill into their famed hangout. You’ll find a menu of burgers, wings, bratwurst, pretzels, and specialty beverages to dine on while listening to stories of the infamous “Hounds,” which are boastful hunters from beyond Darkmoor. The inside of this tavern will feature an impressive display of monster heads these creature captors consider their “trophies.”
You can also stop in at De Lacey’s Cottage. You’ll find De Lacey’s Cottage food stand near Frankenstein Manor where the original Frankenstein’s Monster once received sustenance and friendship. This stand is said to offer a variety of snacks and cool treats like cinnamon bread, ice cream, twisted taters, and more.
While you’re visiting, you’ll want to pick up a few souvenirs before you leave, lest no one believe your wild tales of walking with such unhinged creatures.

Don’t worry — while there’s only been an introductory collection of merchandise introduced for Dark Universe so far, we’re willing to bet we’re in for an impressive array of merchandise that will make you scream with excitement when you spot it once inside.
