YIKES. We Were NOT Expecting to See This at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

We go to Disney World every single day of the year…so when we see something new, we get excited!

Just this week we’ve seen construction walls come down at the new Tiana’s Bayou Adventure attraction in Magic Kingdom revealing the sign, and controversial updates in EPCOT’s Morocco pavilion. Now, on the morning of May 31st, we noticed something new at Disney’s Hollywood Studios that threw us for a loop.

This story begins when we saw that Hollywood Studios was closing early on June 5th, 2024. The calendar lists the park hours for that day as 8:30AM to 5:30PM instead of closing at 10AM.

A few weeks ago, we checked the Park Pass calendar to see that June 5th was sold out for Hollywood Studios. Usually, we say to avoid parks when they close early like this, especially if you don’t have a park hopper.  However, we have seen lower crowds at the park on these days.

On May 31st, we rope dropped Hollywood Studios where we were greeted by a giant stage setup. Seriously, this thing is HUGE!

Wow!

We confirmed with Cast Members that the stage was for the event happening on June 5th. So if you were hoping for a clear photo down Hollywood Boulevard, you’re out of luck until then!

Since the stage is so massive, it may take some time to remove it from the park as well. We will, of course, keep an eye on the construction here.

After some research, we found that this early park closure and the stage is for the last day of the SAP Sapphire & ASUG Annual Conference Orlando. While many of the events are taking place at the Orange County Convention Center with guest speakers like Reese Witherspoon, the event is hosting a concert at Hollywood Studios on June 5th in the evening. Any guesses on the performer?

So if you have a park hopper and want to spend a few hours in Hollywood Studios before it closes at 5:30PM, you might see some shorter wait times. If your ticket only allows you into one park per day, we highly recommend spending that day in a different park to make the most of your ticket.

We’ll continue to bring you updates from Disney World — stay tuned!
