BREAKING: Disney Faces NEW Waterslide Lawsuit, Third In One Year

Disney World has been named in a lawsuit filed by a woman claiming that a waterslide at Typhoon Lagoon has left her severely injured.

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon

The suit alleges that a woman who recently visited the water park rode a water slide there and suffered from severe injuries as a result of that ride.

According to Click Orlando, the woman visited Typhoon Lagoon on May 11th and went tubing on the Humunga Kowabunga waterslide, the fastest and steepest waterslide in the park with a five-story drop at a 60-degree angle. The suit alleges that the woman fell unconscious after “banging inside the ride.” According to the lawsuit, her body was discovered at the end of the ride by her fiancé and mother.

The lawsuit claims that the attendants on duty were not lifeguards and needed to find lifeguards to help the woman. It also claims that blood was coming out of the woman’s mouth when her body was discovered. The lawsuit states, “Had (Disney) had lifeguards at the end of the ride to watch and help guests coming off the ride, brain injury would not have occurred as she wouldn’t have been drowning in the water coughing up blood,” the lawsuit stated.

According to the records, the woman’s fiancé pulled her from the water, but once a lifeguard came, they couldn’t help or touch her, so an ambulance was called. The woman is seeking over $50,000 in damages, as well as costs, interest and attorneys’ fees. This is the third waterslide-related lawsuit Disney has faced in less than a year.

In October 2023, a woman filed a lawsuit against Disney World after claiming she suffered “severe gynecological trauma” after riding the same waterslide. That woman was also seeking at least $50,000 in damages as a result of the alleged injuries she sustained during a trip to Typhoon Lagoon in 2019.

That lawsuit claims the woman “went airborne” during her ride down the slide, which forced her ankles apart (visitors are told to keep their ankles crossed while riding) and her impact into the water at the end of the slide “caused genital lacerations and internal organ damage, requiring two hospital visits for treatment.”

Most recently, in February 2024, a woman filed a lawsuit against Disney World after allegedly suffering from “bodily injury” after using a waterslide at one of Disney Animal Kingdom Lodge’s pools. That woman claimed she hit the bottom of the pool, which resulted in her injuries.

That woman claims that Disney World was negligent in maintaining, inspecting, or repairing the pool area and water slide, which created a dangerous condition. She is also seeking $50,000 from Disney plus interests and costs.
