We have MADE IT to Tokyo DisneySea to check out all there is to see and do at their new port, Fantasy Springs!

There are three parts to this new land, one of them being Frozen Kingdom, inspired by Disney’s animated Frozen film! There’s an all-new ride in this land that hasn’t been seen in any other Disney park — come with us to check it out!
Anna and Elsa’s Frozen Journey is a brand-new ride that takes passengers on a boat ride through a retelling of Disney’s iconic animated film Frozen.
While this sounds familiar to EPCOT’s Frozen Ever After, there are SIGNIFICANT differences. Let’s start with the queue.

The queue puts you inside a detailed and completely immersive Arendelle Castle. While Disney already has several breathtaking queues, we felt this one matches up with the best of the best!

Deeper inside the queue, you’ll see plenty of Frozen Easter eggs in the form of decor like portraits, paintings, and more!

Even when you get up close to the props, you can see that everything serves a purpose or has a callback to the films.

The castle feels lived in, only further adding to the immersion. If you’re a serious Frozen fan, you’ll notice all kinds of easter eggs throughout the queue. Yes, that is Sir Jorgenbjorgen on the table. Adorable!

We were extra impressed by a room with a glass ceiling and windows that allow you to see the aurora borealis outside, in addition to the occasional Olaf appearance! Look carefully when you’re waiting in line; you never know what (or WHO) you might see.

Seriously, we could have spent hours in here.

As for the queue music, it is composed of an arrangement of songs from the franchise and only adds to the pleasant atmosphere of the queue.

But now for the important stuff — the actual ride! The ride vehicle is a boat, much like the EPCOT’s Frozen attraction but how they operate is different. The tech is more advanced at Tokyo DisneySea, and you experience that immediately.

So about the ride…We aren’t kidding when we say Anna and Elsa’s Frozen Adventure is one of the greatest Disney attractions we’ve ever experienced — maybe even the greatest. Our jaws were on the floor the entire time.

The ride starts out with state-of-the-art projections that bring the animatronics to life.

The effects are so incredibly detailed — take a look below! We found the facial expressions and music to be so immersive that you don’t even need to know what the characters are saying to really appreciate the story.

The animatronics are STUNNING. The fluidity in their movement is lifelike, and the projections are some of the best we’ve ever seen at Disney Park. The way the animatronics portray emotion in this attraction is truly unparalleled. We’re talking Na’vi Shaman level but for EVERY SINGLE ANIMATRONIC — of which there are MANY.

The brilliant animatronics only elevate the ELITE storytelling this ride offers. Every boat movement is time perfectly to the story and the ride hits perfect beats to make this attraction surprisingly emotional. Every character was created with intense design and serves a purpose.

The lighting and music really pack an extra punch when it comes to that emotional storytelling! Seriously — we were FLOORED by the storytelling at work here. Every subtle movement was captured — and even our boats moved in perfect time with the story. When Elsa pushes away, so do we! When Anna’s heart is frozen, the light perfectly reflects the scene. It was incredible.

The lighting effects on the animatronics (such as Anna’s frozen heart) are subtle details that don’t go unnoticed. Instead, they help lead to wonderful transitions and keep the story connected.

The ride effects are also out of this world. We’re talking about some seriously innovative technology!

The room with the ice spikes is especially impressive. Check them out in action below! Just look at that transformation — it’s just like the movie!

The last scene features Elsa and Anna ice skating and pulling Anna along, and it looks SO real! It’s hard to believe that these are animatronics; Anna and Elsa look like the just stepped out of the movie here.

With such fluid movement and detailed designs, it was really easy to maintain the suspension of disbelief and feel like we were actually in the World of Frozen!

Featuring songs from the original film and multiple memories that the sisters share mixed with ride technology we haven’t seen before, we can confidently say this may be the best Disney Parks attraction ever created. We’ve visited every Disney Park and ridden every attraction, so coming from us, that means something.

We’ll be exploring all of Fantasy Springs before it officially opens on June 6th, 2024, so be sure to stay tuned to AllEars!
