Y’all. Today, March 20th, is a HUGE day for Disney Cruise Line fans!

Disney Cruise Line just shared that their next cruise ship will be called the Disney Destiny and will be the next Wish-class ship. It’ll set sail for the very first time in 2025! We’re sure you’re all VERY curious to know EVERYTHING about the Disney Destiny, but with so much information released all at once, it can be a bit overwhelming. That’s why we’re here to save the day (you’ll get that joke in a few minutes) by breaking down ALL of the news for you. Let’s go!

Construction

The name of the all-new ship was released at an important milestone of ship construction: the keel laying ceremony! The ceremony took place at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany — where the construction is taking place.

The keel laying ceremony is a longtime maritime tradition that is meant to bestow good luck upon the vessel.

Theming

Disney also shared the THEMING of the ship, which is heroes and villains!

On board the ship, you’ll encounter heroes and villains alike from stories including The Lion KingHercules, and 101 Dalmatians.

Artwork

Further, Disney shared the filigree artwork for the bow of the ship.

It’s Minnie, taking super hero stance!

Video with EASTER EGGS!

Disney shared a video with ALL of these details, plus some concept art that REALLY caught our attention. Watch the whole video, and then we’ll chat more! Go, go, go!

Okay, okay. So what really got our attention is this concept art that shows some potential themes that we’ll find throughout the ship. We spy the Haunted Mansion, Edna Mode, Spiderman, and…what’s that? Is that a JOLLY ROGER?

Okay, so a lot of folks think that this could just be confirmation of Pirates Night, which happens on every Disney ship. It’s where everyone dresses up like a pirate and it’s super fun. However…it happens on EVERY SHIP. So, we think that this nod could hint to more — like a Pirates of the Caribbean theme!

That’s just a guess, though! Another guess of ours is that since this is the next ship in the Wish-class, and since the Disney Wish and the Disney Treasure both have versions of the AquaMouse (a water coaster), the Disney Destiny will have one, too. We think we might even be able to spot it in the concept art!

We are SO excited about the addition of the new ship and can’t wait to learn more about it. We’ll be sure to keep an eye out for more Destiny news and share that here with you all. Make sure to follow along so that you’re always in the loop!
