More details were recently revealed about the new Harry Potter TV series that’s in the works.
Last year we learned that a new Harry Potter TV series received the green light to move forward from creator J.K. Rowling. The show will translate the original books into a decade-long TV series, featuring a new cast.
According to initial plans for the show, “Each season will be authentic to the original books and bring Harry Potter and these incredible adventures to new audiences around the world, while the original, classic and beloved films will remain at the core of the franchise and available to watch globally.”
On Friday, Warner Bros. Discovery chief David Zaslav revealed more details about the expected timeline of the project on the company’s fourth-quarter earnings call.
Zaslav revealed that the company is targeting a 2026 debut for the project, which will appear on HBO’s streaming service, Max. He also said that he met with Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling in London just a few weeks ago to discuss the project. Zaslav said, “Both sides are thrilled to be reigniting this franchise. Our conversations were great, and we couldn’t be more excited about what’s ahead. We can’t wait to share a decade of new stories with fans around the world on Max.”
Initial development on the series first began back in 2021, and Warner Bros. Discovery officially gave it the green light to move forward last year. They plan to develop seasons based on all of the books, spreading out over 10 years.
We’ll be on the lookout for more news about the series as production continues, so stay tuned to AllEars for the latest updates.

Really not a necessary project. The movies were great, and there is no reason to do a remake of them as a series. I wish the focus was more on giving Fantastic Beasts a proper conclusion and bringing back the surviving original cast to make the stage play “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” to the big screen.
