Okay, so we’re sure we’ve all thought of the worst-case scenarios in Disney World.

So you might be wondering what would happen if you lost something important in Disney World. What if that something was your phone? Well, believe it or not, you CAN navigate Disney World without a phone, but hopefully, Disney will find it and get it back to you. But what if your phone gets wet? Well, we can tell you what you should NOT do.
The likelihood of your phone getting wet in Disney World is high. Not only are you likely to experience rainy weather during your trip, but you might also get your phone wet if you have it out on certain water rides.
So one of the things you might have heard, especially on the Internet, is that if your phone gets wet, dunk it into a bag with some rice. Well, according to the iPhone tech website, you should NOT do that. The site reads: “Don’t put your iPhone in a bag of rice. Doing so could allow small particles of rice to damage your iPhone.” This will be true of all smartphones.

Now, we do live in a day and age when most phones are waterproof, but they may not be completely water resistant. So if it gets wet or you get an alert that something is wrong, here’s what Apple suggests you do:
- Unplug the cable from your phone and unplug the other end from the power adaptor. Don’t plug it in again until both your phone and cable are dry.
- Gently tap your phone against your hand with the connector facing down. This will help remove excess liquid. Then leave your phone in a dry area.
- After 30 minutes, try charging the phone.
- If you get an alert, leave your phone in a dry area for up to a day and then try to charge it again.
- If your phone seems dry, but still won’t charge, unplug the cable from the adaptor and the adaptor from the wall and then connect everything again.

Apple also lists things you should not do when your phone gets wet. In addition to not putting the phone in rice, you should also not try to dry your phone with something like a hair dryer, other heat source, or compressed air. You should also not insert anything into the phone or connector like a cotton swab or paper towel.
So if, for some reason, your phone isn’t water resistant and it gets wet, now you know what to do. If you’re still worried about your phone getting wet, though, there are accessories you can get to protect it. A Waterproof Cellphone Pouch can always come in handy, like this one that you can just wear around your neck. You can get a pack of three!

You can also buy a Waterproof Phone Case for your iPhone 14, which will protect your phone. This one isn’t just waterproof, it’s also dust proof and shock proof.
