Six Flags parks are located all over the nation, and so are Cedar Fair Parks. Two of Cedar Fair’s most popular parks are Cedar Point and Kings Island. However, something is happening at Cedar Fair that might bring them VERY close with Six Flags soon.

According to Cleveland.com, Cedar Fair has reported that revenue and park attendance were down in 2023. However, their planned merger with Six Flags, which cost $22 million, is expected to be completed by June! Could the merger help boost that revenue and attendance?

The merger is currently under an antitrust investigation conducted by the U.S. Department of Justice, and Cedar Fair CEO Richard Zimmerman has said that they’re “still working through the antitrust approval process.” He also stated that the company is looking forward “‘to unlocking the compelling value creation opportunities ahead for our combined company, which we are confident are greater than either company could have achieved independently.'”

This year, Cedar Point will be unveiling their new attraction, Top Thrill 2, which has been in the works for many years and is expected to attract visitors. Cedar Point says this ride will “feature a pair of 420-foot-tall track towers, three launches and a top speed of 120 mph.”

So what does this mean for the parks? Well, we’ll have to wait and see! Will Six Flags choose to close some of Cedar Fair’s less popular parks, or just bring some Six Flags touches into Cedar Fair, or vice versa? Will this help boost park attendance and revenue? We’ll be on the lookout for more details. As always, stay tuned to AllEars for all the latest Disney news!

  1. As a NEO native, I really hope this merger does not happen. Six Flags destroyed other beloved amusement parks in NEO – Geauga Lake and the old Sea World of Aurora. These former parks were redone to be like Six Flags and lost their charm and great local appeal and now these area are large vacant spaces of run down land.
This will be extremely bad news for Cedar Point and Kings Island…two other very beloved amusement parks in Ohio.
