We’ve been learning LOTS about Tiana’s Bayou Adventure over the past few days and it’s just making us more and more excited about the ride’s opening.

Disney has shared that Tiana’s is set to open — in both Disney World and Disneyland — sometime in 2024, and we’ve been keeping up with all the latest changes and updates. We had been wondering whether or not Disney would add Splash Mountain nods or easter eggs to the ride, and now we think we’ve found our answer!
Disney has shared that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will pick up the story of The Princess and the Frog “after the final kiss, and join Princess Tiana and Louis on a musical adventure – featuring some of the powerful music from the film – as they prepare for their first-ever Mardi Gras performance.”

Princess Tiana makes her dream come true when she opens her very own restaurant, Tiana’s Palace (just like the one in Disneyland)!
The story of the attraction, as Disney shares, picks up during New Orleans’ Carnival season, and Tiana is hosting a Mardi Gras Party for the people of New Orleans — the community that has supported her successful restaurant.

While we’re extremely excited about the new ride, we can’t help but feel a twinge of sadness when we think of our old pal, Splash Mountain. This ride served Magic Kingdom and Disneyland well for years, which made us wonder whether Disney would add any nods to the iconic attraction within Tiana’s.
A new interview with a Disney Imagineer may have just given us our answer.

Imagineer Ted Robledo is the executive creative director of Walt Disney Imagineering and recently dished about whether or not we could expect some Splash Mountain easter eggs throughout Tiana’s…

…and he hinted that, yes, there will be some “subtle nods” to Splash. Much of the ride’s interior architecture has remained — like the rocks, boulders, and whatnot — but it sounds like there will be room for even more easter eggs we’ll have to keep an eye out for.

Robledo also went on to explain why Disney removed the large tree trunk that once sat atop the mountain, saying, “We needed some real estate there to fit the added show magic.” Whatever it is, we can’t wait to see it for ourselves!
