We Interrupt Your Morning To Bring You News About Disney’s NEW ROBOT WEASEL

Disney has been busy lately! Just last month, Hong Kong Disneyland opened its World of Frozen land, and now, a NEW Disney park land has opened.

After much anticipation, Zootopia-themed land at Shanghai Disneyland is finally open! Disney celebrated by holding a few grand opening events, and Parks & Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro got quite the surprise during one when he was interrupted by a piece of new tech!

Disney’s new Zootopia-land has officially opened, and a familiar face has crashed the party! The mischievous weasel, Duke Weaselton from the Zootopia franchise, rolled across the stage blasting music while pushing a kiosk, asking him to be an honorary ambassador of the land.

Don’t worry, though — Josh didn’t fall for Duke’s schemin’!

The Duke Weaselton robot is a demo of Walt Disney Imagineering Research & Development’s next iteration of robot technology, which we first saw at the South by Southwest (SXSW) conference earlier this year. Imagineers revealed a free-standing, dynamic robotic character on skates able to steady itself and perform a somersault.

The Duke robot has the ability to do dynamic maneuvers, with expressive, animated faces. Check it out for yourself below!
