That’s exactly what you get with Storyliving by Disney, which is building residential communities with Disney Imagineers to bring places you can actually live in that have that famous Disney storytelling touch. Disney is almost ready to open its first Storyliving by Disney community, Cotino in California, but it also just announced a second new Storyliving community.

This new community is called Asteria and Disney recently dropped a few details about the new community, which will be located near Raleigh, North Carolina. We’ve looked through those details — and the concept art — for clues about this new Storyliving by Disney community.

An ‘Up’ Connection?

First, the community is “inspired by the spirit of discovery” and “is being designed to encourage exploration, spark life-long learning and create new connections for future residents.” One thing that stood out to us in Disney’s announcement about Asteria is its use of the quote “Adventure is out there.” Up fans will immediately get that reference. Now, we know that Cotino will have an Incredibles-themed recreational space, so could we expect an Up-themed space in Asteria? Maybe!

Something to ‘Wish’ For?

Something else we noticed in the details is the name Disney chose for the neighborhood, Asteria. Disney said, “The name Asteria pays homage to the wonder of the night sky and its ability to make us pause, ponder and consider life’s possibilities.” The first thing that comes to mind is Disney’s most recent animated movie Wish. So will Wish have something inspired by it at Asteria? Of course, it could also allude to Treasure Planet, but that could be more of a stretch (or wishful thinking on our part).

Price

We can, however, make a general good guess about what the price will be for homes in Asteria, based on what we know about Cotino. According to the Storyliving by Disney website, single-family homes in Cotino are anticipated to start from the upper $1 millions to lower $2 millions. Larger homes, will, of course, cost more.

Granted, there could be a bit of a difference in prices between Cotino and Asteria, especially as they’re located in different locations. But we do expect prices to be similar.

Asteria will have lots of green spaces

Disney has already stressed that Asteria will be embracing the natural beauty of North Carolina, and in looking at the concept art, you can already see the plan is to include tree-lined streets, parks, forests, and more.

According to Disney, “the community will feature acres of neighborhood parks and miles of beautiful walking and biking trails where residents can connect with the fauna and flora of the outdoors.”

Loads of amenities

The concept art also shows LOADS of amenities, including neighborhood pools, fountains, a large park space, tennis courts, and more. There’s even a domed building that resembles a building you might see at a university. Disney has stated that Asteria will take some inspiration from nearby universities.

It certainly seems like there will be plenty to do at Asteria. The community club will include a wellness and recreation center, a restaurant, other sports courts, a community garden, fire pits, and more.

Granted, this is about all we can figure out based on what Disney has already told us and what we know about Cotino, but we’ll be keeping an eye out for more details. So check back with AllEars again soon.
