The celebration went far beyond that as Disney celebrated in EPCOT and around the globe in each of the parks. You could find special decorations and merchandise to mark the momentous occasion for the 100-year-old company. But we’re pretty sure that one group of people had the best celebration of all!

Over in Anaheim, California at Disneyland Resort, the Cast Members were treated to an exclusive 23-hour 100th Anniversary backstage party! 23 hours for the year the Disney Company was founded, 1923.

The Cast Members were able to celebrate 100 years in the original Disney park by participating in several fun activities such as speed puzzling, Disney100 exclusive showings, and dunk tanks. Disneyland Resort leaders succumbed to the splashes in a dunk tank to raise money for Make-A-Wish which the resort promised to donate $5 for every successful dunk up to $5,000!

Cast Members got special treats and opportunities to be part of something special. “It makes you feel like you’re included. It’s being able to be part of the bigger scope than our everyday work. For the company to host something and give back to the cast members, it’s really important.” said Horticulture cast member Larry Alexander.

A big part of the history of Disney is the opportunities to take and save group photos on such momentous occasions. To bring each Cast Member and special moments into their history is important to the company, which is why they held many group photos throughout the time of the party.

All these memories and photos can now be archived and always part of the Disney magic. It’s great seeing Cast Members given these special opportunities and treats. We love seeing Cast Member appreciation!

  1. I think cast member appreciation is extremely important. I wish all ears cold have shown us around to see what they did for them first hand. I am curious, did they shut down DL for the time or was it all backstage?
