As electric vehicles — or EVs — have become more and more common on American roads, many drivers have had to adapt to the concept of charging them, sometimes at home but for some just as often in the parking lots of establishments they visit, including movie theaters, shopping malls, supermarkets, and yes, theme parks.

This includes Universal Orlando, which offers several options for guests looking for a charge while they enjoy the resort.
There are three main ways to charge an electric vehicle at Universal Orlando:
Theme Park Parking Lots
The first are the chargers located in the parking lots for the Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure theme park parking lots. These are convenient for guests looking to charge over the course of their theme park day.

Universal Studios Florida has eight charging points in the E.T. section of the parking area. Universal’s Islands of Adventure has two charging locations, with a total of 16 charging spots giving the two parks a total of 24 charging stations with J-1772 connectors. Valid theme park admission is required to use the theme park charging stations.
CityWalk
Next, there are charging stations located at CityWalk. Specifically, there are four charging stations with J-1772 connectors, allowing guests to charge while they eat or shop at CityWalk, similar to a typical shopping mall.

Hotels
Beyond Universal’s parks and shopping district, the Orlando Resort also offers electric vehicle charging at each of its on-site hotels including The Hard Rock Hotel, the Loews Portofino Bay Hotel, Loews Royal Pacific Resort, Loews Sapphire Falls Resort, and the Cabana Bay Beach Resort.

Regular parking costs, as well as a fee to use the charging stations may be applicable to charge an EV at Universal property.

If you can reserve a charging station, I would go in my EV Cadillac Lyriq. If you can’t make a reservation, then I would take my
Cadillac CT5.
