There’s a “New” SECRET Place to Hang Out at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort

It’s been over three years since the pandemic halted many things we loved at Disney World.

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa

While many of those things have returned, many still have not. One fan-favorite experience that closed due to COVID-19 restrictions was taking tea at the Garden View Tea Room on the main floor of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. This cozy little Victorian-inspired eatery was where guests could have tea and small refreshments throughout the day — all in their theme park clothes! This was also where fans could experience the My Disney Girl’s Perfectly Princess Tea. Since the pre-pandemic days, this spot has remained quiet and pretty empty… until now!

We’ll preface this with the fact that Garden View Tea Room is still not technically open, so don’t get too excited. However, on October 12th, we noticed that the dining area is currently being repurposed as a lounge space where families can unwind together!

The tables were topped with board games and family activities to keep folks of all ages entertained.

Games!

There was also a TV in there so that guests can watch movies. Cars was playing when we visited.

A place to watch movies!

Y’all. This SUCH a great spot to take kiddos if they need to get away from the hustle and bustle of the theme parks but still need to be entertained. It’s also a place to relax, nurse, take meds, you name it! There was no one in there other than us and a Cast Member, so it’s pretty private, too.

It’s empty!

  1. Quite disheartening to hear it has been repurposed. The tea parties were wonderful. It seems like they are removing some very unique experiences that help make Disney magical. Thank goodness my daughter was able to experience the Princess Tea party. So sad what they’re doing.

  2. I am quite surprised and saddened that the beautiful tea room, and its Victorian atmosphere is no longer use for “teas.” A television screen? In a garden tea room? And no tea parties? How disappointing.

  3. I do so hope they bring back their Afternoon Tea service, and that this (or any other) “repurposing” is only temporary.
